The Urban Dao Child

Yang Dao and Dao Yin stood gazing at the planet that seemed to be made of marble and emerald. It was as if the two elements failed at fusing so hard that their boundaries were blurred. The elder behind the two said, "The green is the land and the white is the water. Isn't it beautiful?"

The couple nodded in silence. It was not that they were lost in the marvel of this planet but because they could make out the white tiger from the blurry borders. The scenery of the planet was teaching them something.

Why would a place, where gazing from the space enlightens you, not be called a holy land? However, the scenery did not only teach them about just martial arts but also something even more mystical. The scenery of the four holy lands contained traces of the laws of dao.

These laws could only be seen through the Dao Children and no one else. The content of the code was the same. They did not know, in which region will the Dao Children appear. The holy land of the Azure Dragon lay in the Demon Realm, along with the Black Turtle holy land. While Vermillion Pheonix and White Tiger holy land were situated in the human realm.

They were not at odds, but they had the immortal plane divided into four parts. Dao Yin suddenly said, "Yang, this..."

Yang Dao mumbled, "Essence of the great dao. The secret of true immortality."

If someone else had heard their words, they would have tried every method to break off their skulls and get what they needed. The whole populace of the immortal plane was chasing after immortality and here were they, two teenagers able to perceive the secrets of the eternal mystery.

Dao Yin said, "Is this left behind for us?"

Yang Dao mumbled, "Make a guess."

The two talked slowly as the ship entered the atmosphere of the planet, the elders led them to the outside. They found a huge palace in the distance. The palace had white buildings and green tiled roofs. It was so beautiful as if the whole place was made of jade.

Yang Dao and Dao Yin, however, were looking at the center of the palace. They sensed something resonating with them. They asked, "What is in there?"

The elder said, "Only the chief instructor knows, and only she can tell you."

The two people nodded and asked, "Can we meet her?"

The elder shook his head and said, "She has gone out to deal with a few Daemons who tried to invade us a week ago, but you can meet with the Head Caretaker of the holy land."

Yang Dao asked, "Who is this head caretaker?"

A soft and sweet voice sounded behind them as a beautiful lady in a violet robe walked over. She was none other than Zen. How was she able to come here under the guise of the caretaker was possible because Feng Yun manipulated the memory of the people here.

Yang Dao and Dao Yin sensed something very familiar from her, but they still bowed to the lady and said, "I have seen the senior(2)"

Zen smiled and said, "Raise your heads, there is no need for such formality among us. You are the first pair of students in this holy land, under my tenure, let us take care of each other, okay?"

Yang Dao and Dao Yin smiled faintly before they nodded.

Atsuji Kurogame sipped on his tea and said, "Zen surely is getting into her role."

Feng Yun smiled and said, "Kiya, you taught her well."

Kiya was standing behind her, and she giggled a bit upon hearing this. Athena asked, "How did you do this? What did you teach Mistress Zen?"

Kiya replied, "Something essential from the mortal realm, it is called, Maid Etiquettes."

Ryu Jinshi spewed out the tea in his mouth, while Atsuji Kurogame smiled and Feng Yun laughed. Lisa and Mika stood dumbfounded when they regained their consciousness, they took two steps away from the girl.

Kiya asked them, "What happened?"

They shook their heads, and Kiya perceived something and turned around to find Laohu Bai looking at him with a smile. Kiya shivered, "Master, I swear, I did not teach her anything that could stain the connection between them. It is just that Mistress Zen is too uptight sometimes."

Laohu Bai said, "When did I say anything to you sweetheart?"

She was in a good mood, after all, Yang Dao and Dao Yin had entered the holy land and they will be learning a few things from her. She was going to spend a good time with the two. She said, "Okay, I will leave now before Zen hogs them."

The three people waved their hands. Athena said, "Master, please take care."

Lisa and the other two also bowed to Laohu Bai.

Zen was showing the two children around the palace with a serene smile on her face. Suddenly she said, "The chief instructor is here, come along."

Treading through the corridors they came to the center of the palace. The center of the palace was a garden, In the center of the garden stood a pillar. The pillar was covered with patterns of the four heavenly beasts. The length of the pillar seemed to be infinite.

Yang Dao and Dao Yin both were in awe when the pillar glowed and a blink later a person appeared in front of the two. The feeling of familiarity was higher than what they sensed upon seeing Zen.

Laohu Bai looked so beautiful, that the two had no words, and a smile appeared on their faces when they saw the lady. She could be said to be perfect. Her snow-white hair was as long as her waist. Unlike Dao Yin, her hair was tied into a thick braid.

Dao Yin bowed and said, "Greetings, Chief Instructor."

Yang Dao did not know what took over him and asked, "Ummm, Chief Instructor, can I give you a hug?"

Dao Yin was surprised, but she could tell that she also had a strong urge to hug the lady in front of him. Laohu Bai smiled and stepped forward. In a blink, Yang Dao was already in her embrace. The posture was not vulgar and the expressions on their faces were very serene.

Dao Yin pouted and Laohu Bai beckoned her to come and join them too. It was like a family reunion. After a few minutes, Laohu Bai said, "You two have your own cultivation sutras. Follow them and comprehend the first step of the true immortal realm. After you have done so, your education will begin."

The two teenagers nodded and replied, "Yes, Chief Instructor."

Laohu Bai said, "You can call me, Big Sister Bai."

The two of them nodded and bowed slightly. Laohu Bai said, "Zen, you can show them to their cottage."

Zen nodded and then took the two people out of the small garden. They came outside the palace, and in a distance, a few cottages were constructed. They were all log cottages. Zen said, "Be careful of the others here."

Yang Dao asked, "Others?" in doubt.

Zen replied, "Those who came here before you, they took a time a bit too long to advance to the realm of true immortals. There are six people living here. They take tasks to deal with the Daemons, and come back here to rest."

Dao Yin clicked her tongue and said, "Glorified security guards."

Yang Dao patted her back gently and said, "Do not be conceited."

Dao Yin sighed and pouted, "Yang, we have the skills then why can we not be open about it?"

Yang Dao said, "You have a point, but rather than our mouths, let our skills speak."

Dao Yin snorted and said, "Always using logic."

Yang Dao chuckled and then holding her hand the two walked over to the cottage area. They had just crossed the first cottage when the door of the cottage was pushed open. A wisened voice sounded, "I have seen Lady Zen."

The smile on Zen's face vanished and she nodded, with no intention to stop and talk. The man stepped out of the cottage and asked, "Bringing in new juniors?"

Zen nodded. The man said, "Allow me to introduce myself, Kilo."

Yang Dao and Dao Yin stopped while the young man said, "I am Yang Dao, and this is my companion, Dao Yin."

The man said, "Ohhh, companion. Let me have a look." his tone did not sit write with the context.

Dao Yin took out her sword and the sword intent radiated from her gaze. Kilo had to take a step back. Yang Dao did not say anything but smiled faintly. Suddenly, a loud bang sounded from the cottage ahead of them, "How dare you be so noisy in here?"

Yang Dao turned his head to look at a lady approaching them with a spear in her hand. He said, "I apologize, but you cannot disrupt them."

Then with a wave of his hand, the lady was covered in white marble stone up to her waist. Yang Dao said, "So, you are what they call a True Immortal?"

He was aware of this realm but wanted to insult these arrogant sissies.
