HP Dawn Night

Chapter 23 Eavesdropping

Merlin bless!

This tragic story ends with the appearance of the centaur Firenze.

Just when the thing pointed its wand at me, Potter fell to his knees and screamed, Draco screamed in horror, and then I lay on the ground, faintly heard the sound of horseshoes, something passing by The top of my head flew towards the figure.

It took me a second or two to realize what was going on, and Draco was shaking his wand - he was probably the most conscious of us all - aimed at the centaur.

"Come on, Draco," I said weakly, and the centaur looked young, with platinum-blond hair and the body of a silver-maned horse.

"Are you all right?" the centaur asked, pulling Potter up from the ground.Draco staggered forward and dragged me away from Potter.

"It's all right—thank you—what was that?" Potter said reluctantly. But the centaur didn't answer him. His eyes were like sapphires, shining faintly in the dark night.

That thing was long gone.Perhaps there was something about the Centaur that made it fearful.

"That's enough," Draco said suddenly in the silence. He fumbled to light the fireworks while tugging at me. "Let's go—tonight's business, I, I—"

"I've got to tell my father." I said that before he did.His gray eyes reflected the moonlight in the dark night, and we shivered involuntarily, gazing in horror at the Forbidden Forest, which seemed to have calmed down and seemed no longer peaceful.

Draco and I huddled together behind a tree, and Potter and Firenze the centaur were talking not far away, and we had no intention of listening to what they were talking about now.

"Whatever that thing is - it nearly killed us tonight, all three of us!" I flicked my wand nervously, just as there was the sound of chaotic footsteps on the far path.I almost jumped up when Draco cautiously held me down.

"Thank goodness."

Draco and I breathed a sigh of relief when we saw Hagrid's little lamp, but neither of us put down our wands.

"We're going back," I said firmly, "now—" I didn't know if I should tell Hagrid about seeing that thing, my gut told me not to.This feeling intensified when those Gryffindors showed up.

"The unicorn is dead, right there," said Draco bitterly, and I'm sure he hated Filch's decision to let us come to the Forbidden Forest. There was some arrogance in his voice again, "It's time for the confinement to end, I've had enough, goodbye!"

Pansy and Blaise were waiting for us in the lounge, but they had fallen asleep without knowing it.

Pansy was still murmuring something in his sleep when they were roughly woken by us, and Blaise was wide awake, ready to hear our tales of the Forbidden Forest.

Draco fidgeted around the sofa, still trembling invisibly, the familiar lounge brought a sense of peace, allowing us to vent the remaining fears in our hearts.Blaise and Pansy listened intently, wide-eyed, to what the hell in the Forbidden Forest was about.

"I don't know what it is, but Potter keeps clutching his brow," Draco added, a little manicly, after I finished.

"Is there something wrong with you, Vio?" Pansy asked me, turning to me.

"No—except, fear or something," I said, shivering at the thought of being actually threatened.Pansy hugged me tightly.

"What about you, Draco?" Pansy asked again.

Draco shook his head silently.

The four of us looked at each other by the fire, and the dancing green flames cast a miserable green light on each of our faces.

"Scar." Draco whispered slowly as the wood crackled in the flames. "The scar on his forehead. That's the biggest difference between him and us."

Pansy opened his eyes slightly, while Blaise stared expressionlessly into the depths of the fire.I feel like I understand something:

"Is that person...?"

Both Pansy and Draco's facial muscles twitched involuntarily, but Blaise continued slowly:

"Maybe there's some connection between them. I mean, the man who can't even be named didn't kill Potter, he failed, and that failure manifested in himself, didn't he?"

"But no one can escape the Avada Kedavra!" Pansy retorted.

"That's why Potter is called the Boy Who Lived," I said.

"Pansy, you're right." Draco stood up excitedly. "No one can escape the Avada Kedavra! But Potter did! Maybe, maybe..."

"But the connection is impossible. The Dark Lord is gone," Pansy said. "There is no evidence that he is still in this world."

"It doesn't have to be the Dark Lord himself. It could be something else, such as extremely evil dark magic or something. Maybe Potter would respond to these things?" I tried to make my theory sound reasonable. , "It's like... the Killing Curse was just weakened, not bounced back."

"Does the Avada Kedavra have side effects and aftereffects?" Pansy asked skeptically.

"I'm afraid you can only ask Potter for advice on this point, because all the people who were hit by the Killing Curse before that have died." Blaise said teasingly.Pansy blushed.

"Anyway, I'm going to have to talk to my father tomorrow." I ignored Blaise's words and said, "If there really is a black magic in the school that is so evil that it might harm the students, then at least something needs to be done."

"Hogwarts is said to be the safest place in the world because of Dumbledore." Draco said sarcastically.I sneered:

"Dear Draco, after this night, you should have understood the truth of those words."

"They all say the only thing You-Know-Who's afraid of is Dumbledore—" Pansy said, before Blaise cut her off:

"—the only one. And maybe Harry Potter."

Pansy gave him a hard look, and continued: "Okay. The only one. So anyway, I think Hogwarts, if not impenetrable, is not vulnerable. Besides, we are Slater Forest--"

She suddenly didn't know what to say.

Evil, cunning Slytherin?

"At least we're all pure blood, and none of us were from...Dumbledore's side in that war." Draco said with difficulty.Of course I understand what a challenge this is for him - Uncle Lucius, Aunt Narcissa and my mother, adults always think we don't understand something, but, about the Malfoy family being Death Eaters Draco had inadvertently learned about the rumors many years ago.

Unfortunately, this rumor is very likely to be true.

"I can't be considered a pure blood." I remembered the reason why Greenglass and I had a dispute. "My grandfather was a Muggle and was said to be an alcoholic."

"That's nothing, your grandmother is a Prince after all. And your whole family is Slytherin." Although Pansy was a little scared when she mentioned the mysterious man, she tried her best to comfort me, "not to mention Trust me, Dean, you will not be in danger at Hogwarts."

"And why did the centaurs happen to appear in that place? They have always rejected humans." Blaise asked. But no one can answer this question:

"He jumped out suddenly, and I don't know if he lingered in the distance for a while," I said.

"I don't know what happened later, Hagrid took us and left first, while Potter stayed alone with the centaur." Draco shook his head, "Draco, who knows why the centaur would Be there at that time."

"I heard that centaurs like to study astrology?" Pansy asked excitedly, "Seriously, I can't wait to take a divination class."

"Really, but it sounds like fortune-telling." Blaise insisted on saying such a sentence, which caused Pansy to glare.

Just then, I caught a sudden glimpse of a brown sheen on the stairs.

"Damn it!" I jumped up and rushed down the stairs, but there was no one there.

"Damn it!" Pansy yelled.

"Pansy, honey, haven't you checked that Greenglass and Burst are asleep?" I looked at Pansy earnestly, and she was on the verge of tears:

"I'm sorry. I just went downstairs after taking a shower..."

"How much did she hear?" Draco's face was ugly, and I felt my throat suddenly dry and sore:

"I'll fix it—at least make sure she doesn't talk about it."

"No, Vio. It's my fault." Pansy pursed her lips tightly, and her pretty face was a little more fierce, "If she dares to say a word..."
