Gerling sat at the desk, holding a pen in his hand, with several thick ancient books spread out in front of him. The light was dim. He raised his head, and the moonlight outside the window fell on his face, making him look even more thoughtful.

"Gerlin, what are you thinking about?" A gentle question interrupted his thoughts.

Turning around, he saw his classmate Arya. Her face was full of concern, and her long black hair fell gently on her shoulders, adding a bit of tenderness to her.

"I'm thinking about Bluebeard." Gerling's voice was low and firm. "I don't want to hide anymore. I need to find a way to protect myself."

Arya sat down next to him, a hint of vigilance in her eyes. "You know, he is not an easy enemy to deal with. Why don't you tell the teachers in the academy and seek their help?"

"I no longer have room for trust." Gerling shook his head, frowning, "I can no longer rely on others. My own safety still depends on myself."

"If you insist on doing this, I can't just sit there and watch." Arya made up her mind, her eyes became firm, "Let's work together to find a way. We must not let him succeed."

"But you will be in danger." Gerlin looked at her apologetically.

"This is not my choice, but I am willing to take the risk for my friends." Arya smiled slightly, her eyes revealing firm determination.

Gerlin felt a little warmth in his heart. Although there were many difficulties, it was better to have friends by his side than to be alone. He thought for a moment, pointed to a passage in the ancient book and said, "This book mentions an ancient protective spell that can give the caster a barrier in times of danger."

"Let's try it now!" Arya said excitedly.

"But the casting conditions of this spell are very complicated. I need more time to prepare." Garlin hesitated for a moment, but Arya's firm eyes made him nod involuntarily.

The two of them flipped through the ancient books together, interpreting the spell word by word. Suddenly, a low roar came from outside the window, which made Gerlin's heart tighten, as if he had an ominous premonition.

"Did you hear that?" Arya's face also turned pale.

"Bluebeard is here." Gerling's voice was hurried and his heart was beating as violently as thunder.

"What should we do?" Arya clenched her fists and looked around anxiously.

"Hurry! We must memorize the spell." Garlin immediately came to his senses and began to recite the ancient spell over and over again with Arya.

Thanks to their efforts, the air was filled with a thicker magical atmosphere. The night outside the window seemed to become particularly oppressive at this moment, and the shadows of the surrounding trees swayed like monsters that devoured people's hearts.

At this moment, a cold voice came from outside the door: "What are you doing?"

Garlin and Arya were unable to speak for a long time, their hearts tightened, and they looked towards the door. The door slowly opened, and the figure of Bluebeard came into view. His tall body covered the entire door frame, and his face was blurred in the shadow, but his cold eyes were like a sharp blade, piercing the two.

"Bluebeard!" Gelling shouted angrily, standing up, a look of determination flashing across his face, "I won't let you succeed."

"Interesting little bug, you don't know how to live or die." Bluebeard curled up his lips into a playful smile and walked slowly into the room, as if he was examining his prey.

"What do you want?" There was a hint of fear in Arya's tone, but she forced herself to be shocked and not take a step back.

"I'm here to take your lives." Blue Beard smiled coldly, his eyes seemed to be playing with the toy that was about to be in his hands.

Garlin was secretly alert. He could feel the powerful magic of Bluebeard, almost like invisible fangs, wanting to pounce on him and Arya. He panicked and unconsciously clenched the ancient book with his hands. He stared at Bluebeard firmly: "We have a protection spell!"

"Protection spell?" Bluebeard snorted contemptuously, as if he didn't care at all. "You think that kind of thing can stop me?"

"Don't underestimate it!" Arya shouted bravely, and although her body was shaking slightly, her voice seemed to be trying to encourage Garlin, or even herself.

"Then give it a try." Bluebeard stretched out his hand nonchalantly, intending to get closer.

"Hurry, recite!" Garlin shouted, Arya nodded, and the two of them recited the spell silently in their hearts. The words flowed out like spring water, and light gradually emerged from the ancient book, enveloping the two of them.

A hint of surprise appeared on Bluebeard's face. The light exuded a warm and mysterious atmosphere, which kept the figure that was about to approach away.

"How can there be such power?" He showed a trace of surprise, and then the smile on the corner of his mouth became more cunning, "It's just a temporary block!"

Gerling felt heavy in his heart, but he did not dare to let down his guard. He still stared at Bluebeard's movements: "We will not retreat!"

At this tense moment, the two felt the power of the spell growing stronger, and the air around them seemed to flow and become blurred. Bluebeard's sneer was deeply imprinted in the hearts of Garlin and Arya, as if it was synonymous with endless darkness.

"If you insist on resisting, let me see your limits!" Bluebeard roared and stretched out his hand to break the protective barrier.

"Keep reciting! Never stop!" Gerling seemed to be encouraged, his voice was firm and he tried his best.

"You evil guy, if you want to hurt my friends, don't blame me for being rude!" There was a hint of courage in Arya's voice. She gradually felt the feedback of her own energy and remained steadfast.

As the spells were cast, Bluebeard's figure began to blur, and he seemed to be helpless in the face of the protective barrier. His roars grew louder and louder, as if he was about to tear the space apart: "I won't give up!"
