Hogwarts's Master of Mind
Chapter 43 The Poison of Power
Fudge came in a hurry and left in a hurry.
Aiden was afraid of attracting onlookers, so he simply put on an Invisibility Charm and went to the Room of Requirement to practice magic.
It was already night when Aiden came out of the Room of Requirement, and the cold moonlight was scattered on the smooth ground.
Aiden wandered around aimlessly, looking carefully at the texture of the window, and sometimes knocking on the armor placed in the corridor.
The portraits in the corridor had fallen asleep, and the entire Hogwarts was silent.
Since he hadn't had dinner that night, Aiden decided to go to the kitchen for a midnight snack.
After putting on the Disillusionment Charm, he went to the basement and scratched the pear in the portrait a few times. Then a door appeared in front of Aiden.
Pushing open the door, it was the Hogwarts kitchen, where many house-elves were busy.
The most conspicuous one among them, wearing the scarf given by Aiden, was Coco, who had taken care of Aiden in Godric's Hollow.
"Coco." Aiden waved at him.
"Oh, Mr. Prewett." Coco stopped what she was doing and walked up to Aiden.
"Coco, how have you been recently?" Aiden asked.
"Of course, thanks to Mr. Topwitt, I can serve the little wizards here every day. These days are so wonderful." Coco was a little proud.
"Really? That's good. Do you need anything? I'll bring it to you next time."
“Well, Mr. Prewett is giving Coco a gift, and that’s very generous of Mr. Prewett.
Coco is very happy. She likes everything Mr. Prewitt gives her. ” Coco said excitedly.
"Okay, by the way, Coco, can you get me something to eat? I didn't have dinner."
"Well, bad Coco, for not noticing that Mr. Prewett was still hungry. Coco should punish herself."
Coco said, tapping her head.
“Stop, stop now, Coco, don’t hurt yourself, or you won’t be able to prepare food for me.”
After hearing this, Coco stopped and hurried to prepare food.
Soon, a feast appeared in front of Aiden. The table was covered with golden roast chicken, steaming stew, fresh seasonal vegetables, and a variety of breads and desserts.
"Oh, such a sumptuous meal. Can I have one too?"
A tired voice came from the other side of the door. It was Dumbledore.
"Professor, it's not good for an old man to eat such greasy food so late at night." Aiden joked.
"Well, it's okay. When you reach my age, you will know that everything is a blessing and nothing is bad." Dumbledore's eyes were full of wisdom from the years.
"Including the Minister of Magic who is hostile to you." Aiden raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, including him. He can at least prove that I am still somewhat useful despite my age. Being able to cause trouble for others is also a good use."
Dumbledore winked at Aiden.
Aiden was very hungry and ate the food on his plate in big mouthfuls.
After satisfying his stomach a little, Aiden continued to ask,
"So, why did our glorious and upright Minister of Magic come to Hogwarts in person?"
"Of course, it is to nominate our 'future' for the Order of Merlin, Second Class." Dumbledore smiled.
"You know that's not what I'm asking. There's no need for the Ministry of Magic to make such a fuss over a mere nomination." Aiden rolled his eyes.
"For you, they are here just for nominations, and since the establishment of the Wizengamot, the power to judge and award the Order of Merlin no longer belongs to the Ministry of Magic."
Dumbledore's dishes were served and he began to eat.
"So, the Ministry of Magic only has one nomination right left, and they brought a bunch of people to run rampant just to nominate a name?"
Aiden was a little surprised.
"You have to understand them, this is power, power needs to be demonstrated to be power, otherwise it is useless.
If the Ministry of Magic doesn't demonstrate their power, then they will be forgotten in Game of Thrones.
And to forget is to be out.”
"Is it that exaggerated? Don't they still have the Aurors in their hands?" Aiden was a little confused.
"It's even more exaggerated than that, Aiden. In the magical world, there is no absolute violence that can rule everything."
Dumbledore's eyes looked somewhat empty.
"Violence is not the basis of wizard regimes, because rule brought about by the use of violence will be destroyed by prophecy.
Freedom is part of the nature of wizards, and they are disgusted by domination and restraint.
This will create huge waves in the ocean of collective subconsciousness, and finally transition from consciousness to the present world, forming a prophecy. "
"If wizards are so powerful, why are they forced into hiding by Muggles?"
Aiden discovered the blind spot.
“Because of the numbers, Gale’s active period attracted many people in one sentence: magic is a miracle that blooms in a few people.
No matter how the times change, wizards will always be a minority, so we cannot influence the will of Muggles, who are the majority.
The prophecy, this terrifying force, is as harmless and docile as a rabbit in front of Muggles." Dumbledore replied.
Aiden had a vague feeling, as if he had grasped something, but he couldn't make sense of his thoughts.
"So wizards cannot rely on violence to gain legitimacy of their regime. Then what do wizards need to rely on?"
"The Ministry of Magic can only carry out its work smoothly if it relies on recognition, the recognition of wizards, and the support within the consciousness cluster.
On the contrary, everything they do will face huge resistance. Do you understand now why Cornelius wants to show his authority? " Dumbledore taught earnestly.
"Because he wants recognition, and submitting to authority is also a kind of recognition." Aiden thought thoughtfully.
“Well, you’ve asked me so many questions, let me, an old man, ask you some questions too, Aiden.
How do you view power?" Dumbledore asked.
"Power, I'll sit and watch." Aiden rolled his eyes.
“Why watch Power? It’s not attractive at all, and you explain in depth how the wizard’s power works.
To seize power is to be a clown, to see who has the most shamelessness and can make the audience laugh the most, and whoever makes more money (power) will earn more. "
"Haha, a clown? It does look like one."
Dumbledore was amused for a moment when he thought of Cornelius Fudge's ugly behavior in the afternoon.
“Aiden, you are a gifted child, and I don’t know whether it is right or wrong to exert influence on you.
I was once passionate about pursuing power, and I was self-righteous in proposing ideas, thinking that I was creating beauty, but this led to disaster. "
Dumbledore took a sip of his tea, paused, and continued.
“So I am afraid and terrified that talented people will take the path of power. Power is poisonous and it deeply pollutes everyone who touches it.
I am still afraid of touching power, so I trapped myself in Hogwarts, fearing that one day I would not be able to resist embracing power and be corrupted into a person I would not recognize. "
"No, Professor, no, or there is no need." Aiden murmured.
