Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 161 Peeves’ Prank
"The Triwizard Tournament. I vaguely remember Mom and Dad mentioning it before." Ginny tried to recall. "It seems like it hasn't been held for a long time, right?"
"Yes, that's right." Salina nodded and explained to Ginny and Colin with a smile, "The Triwizard Tournament has a history of more than 700 years. It was originally jointly organized by Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang, the three largest magic schools in Europe. It is held every five years and rotated among the three schools."
"Wow, that sounds so cool!" Colin's eyes sparkled, as if he had already seen the grand spectacle of the competition. "What are the events? Will it be exciting?"
"Of course it's exciting!" Salina deliberately dragged out her voice to whet Colin's appetite. "But the specific competition items will have to wait until October, when representatives from the Ministry of Magic and the principals of the three schools will jointly decide. It is said that each event will be different and full of unknowns and challenges!"
"Wow!" Colin slapped his thigh excitedly. "It would be great if I could witness the competition in person! I really hope that Hogwarts can achieve good results this year!"
"You think too much, Colin." Ginny poured cold water on him mercilessly. "The Triwizard Tournament is only open to students over the age of seventeen. You should think about how to practice Transfiguration first, or you won't be able to transform into even a teapot."
"Uh..." Colin instantly wilted like a deflated ball.
"But then again," Serena continued, "Although the Triwizard Tournament is meant to promote friendship between schools, it is actually still somewhat dangerous. There have been incidents in history where contestants have unfortunately died, so it was later suspended for so many years."
"Is it so dangerous?" Ginny was a little frightened. "Then why did you suddenly decide to resume the competition this year?"
"Well..." Salina shook her head. "I'm not sure either. Maybe the Ministry of Magic feels that the wizarding world is relatively peaceful now. But I believe that Headmaster Dumbledore will do a good job of security. Let's just wait and see."
"Yeah, that's true." Ginny nodded, then as if she suddenly remembered something, she turned to look at Colin, smiled slyly and asked, "Colin, did you really want to sign up for the competition just now?"
"I..." Colin's face flushed red, "I haven't heard you say there's any danger yet..."
"Haha, I think you want to become a warrior and win honor?" Ginny teased.
"No way!" Colin denied it flatly, but his eyes betrayed him.
Salina and Ginny smiled at each other, and the carriage was filled with cheerful laughter.
The afterglow of the setting sun was swallowed up by thick clouds, the sky gradually darkened, and raindrops as big as beans hit the car windows hard, making crackling sounds.
Inside the train, students changed into wizard robes of their respective academies, and the air was filled with an atmosphere of excitement and tension.
As the train slowly pulled into Hogsmeade Station, the noise in the carriage gradually faded away.
Salina, Ginny and Colin got off the train and joined the huge group of students.
The cold rain came down in sheets, soaking everyone.
Led by Hagrid, the first-year students lined up in a crooked line and walked towards the lake, preparing to take a small boat to cross the dark lake.
Senior students walked in groups of three or five toward the carriages parked outside the station, ready to take a ride to the castle.
Salina and Ginny followed Colin and squeezed into a carriage with difficulty.
At this moment, a dazzling flash of lightning streaked across the night sky, illuminating the entire Hogwarts Castle and the young faces in the carriage.
When entering the hallway, Salina felt a chill, and then a water balloon fell from the sky and hit Colin on the back of the head. Water splashed everywhere, and Colin was soaked. He screamed and dodged in a hurry, but accidentally bumped into Ginny next to him.
Ginny staggered and almost fell. At this moment, another water bomb fell from the sky and exploded at Ginny's feet, splashing water all over her.
Salina was quick to grab Ginny and pull her behind her.
When they looked up, they saw Peeves hiding on a beam above the hallway, holding several water balloons in his hands and staring at them with a smirk on his face.
"Peeves! It's you again!" Ginny shouted angrily.
However, Peeves ignored her and laughed even more arrogantly, throwing another water bomb at them.
Salina quickly pulled out her wand and muttered, "Aguamenti! (Clear water like spring)".
A stream of water gushed out from the tip of her wand and headed straight for Peeves.
Peeves was unable to dodge and was hit by the water column. He let out a scream and fell off the beam.
Salina had no intention of letting him go. She waved her wand, and the piles of water balloons around Peeves, which were prepared for pranks, all exploded, splashing water everywhere. Seeing this, Peeves blinked his eyes, then let out a sharp scream, and disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
Salina pointed her wand at Colin, who was soaking wet, and waved it gently.
A gust of warm wind gushed out from the tip of the magic wand and quickly enveloped Colin. After a few seconds, the water droplets on Colin's body disappeared and his school uniform became dry.
Colin smiled gratefully at Salina, with a hint of shyness in his tone.
Then he quickly caught up with Salina and Ginny, and the three of them walked into the brightly lit auditorium side by side.
The auditorium was specially decorated for the new semester banquet. The magical starry sky on the ceiling was even more dazzling. Countless stars poured down, illuminating the entire auditorium like daylight.
The long dining table was covered with four styles of tablecloths, and the silver tableware was sparkling, looking particularly gorgeous under the starlight.
Salina walked into the auditorium and glanced at the faculty seats, noting that there were a few professors sitting there sparsely.
Headmaster Dumbledore sat in the middle with his usual smile on his face, as if any troubles would not stay in his heart for too long.
Professor Flitwick and Professor Sprout were talking cordially, probably discussing the course schedule for the new semester.
Professor Snape walked onto the stage with a gloomy face. His eyes scanned the crowd, lingering on Harry and Salina for a moment before moving away. Salina noticed that he seemed to have lost some weight and his face was paler.
Harry's heart was full of doubts, and he found that the position of the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher was still vacant, which made him even more uneasy.
Salina knew that this year's Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher was Mad-Eye Moody, a weird old Auror, but when she looked around, she didn't see Moody.
Ron complained impatiently. He said his stomach was growling with hunger and he hoped that the new school year party would start soon.
At this moment, the door of the auditorium was pushed open, and Professor McGonagall led a group of first-year students in.
The freshmen were soaked, their hair stuck to their foreheads, their clothes stuck to their bodies, and they looked very embarrassed. Apparently, Peeves's prank left them with a "deep" first impression.
