Hogwarts from another world

Chapter 7 Destroyed Hope

Early the next morning, a boy appeared in the "Magic Zoo" store in Diagon Alley.

His eyes were red and his face was full of exhaustion. It looked like he had not slept well last night; especially he was holding a dead toad in his hand, which looked very funny.

The boy was none other than Matthew Wakefield.

It was normal for him to be tired, because he barely slept a wink last night.

This is not surprising. After experiencing such a terrible incident, few people can sleep. The whole night, he was thinking about whether he would die suddenly on the bed like the poor toad, and then the strange book would appear under him.

Fortunately, such a bad situation did not occur, and he was still alive until the next morning.

The strange book still stayed quietly in the glass box, motionless.

Matthew didn't dare to touch it. He just took the dead toad out of the glass box and ran to Diagon Alley.

"Are you saying that this little guy died suddenly?"

The owner of the "Magic Zoo", the witch wearing thick glasses, took the toad's body from Matthew's hand somewhat mysteriously.

"What's going on? You know the vitality of toads is very tenacious." She murmured.

Matthew spread his hands: "Madam, I also want to know what happened."

"Wait a moment"

As the witch spoke, she pulled out her wand from her waist and waved it gently.

A magnifying glass flew out from somewhere in the store and flew into her hand. Then she sat down at the wooden table next to her, placed the dead toad in front of her, then raised the magnifying glass and began to observe it carefully.

Matthew could only wait.

While waiting, he was also carefully observing the witch's expression. She was very calm at first, but after seeing something, a look of horror appeared on her face.

"What's the matter, ma'am?" he asked softly.

"Nothing." The witch shook her head violently, and her frightened face quickly turned into an expression of disbelief: "This is impossible."

Matthew bit his lip and tried to keep his tone as casual as possible: "Isn't the cause of Toad's death strange?"

"This poor little guy looks like he was scared to death." The witch said incoherently: "There's no way it's not like that. It's just a toad. No one would do that to it."

She stood up tremblingly and threw the body of the black-rimmed toad into the trash can without hesitation.

Her voice gradually returned to calmness: "I will make amends for this, sir. You can choose another toad in the store."

Although she was still in a very bad state.

When she reached into the cage to catch the toad, she lost her grip and almost fell into the cage; while writing transaction records, she broke two quills in a row; and when Matthew took over the new toad At that time, she accidentally kicked over a kettle on the ground.

All in all, when Matthew was sent away from her shop like a plague, the witch wearing thick glasses breathed a sigh of relief as if a burden had been lifted.

Matthew Wakefield saw every detail of the witch's performance.

The worries and doubts in my heart have become deeper.

But he didn't dare to continue irritating her. After all, although the other party seemed to be distracted, she was actually a genuine adult witch and an underage child who knew nothing about magic. If she was unwilling to tell, it would be almost impossible for him to ask anything.

Holding the new toad he just got in his hands, he arrived at his next destination:

Lihen Bookstore.

The clerks at Flourish and Blotts Bookstore didn't seem to remember that the boy had been here yesterday, and they still received him with smiles on their faces.

Matthew was wandering in the bookstore, thinking about his words. He didn't dare to ask directly about the book.

After shopping for about three to five minutes, Matthew slowly approached a shop assistant with no one around:

"Do you have any older books here?" he asked softly.

"No," the clerk replied without raising his head.

"Really"

Seeing the other person raise his head, Matthew quickly added: "A friend of mine told me that he found a book with yellowed pages in the Hogwarts book box that your bookstore gave him. old"

"He's lying," the clerk said unceremoniously, with a very cold expression on his face: "There can't be anything in the bookcases at Hogwarts that doesn't belong inside; also, Flourish and Blotts Bookstore only sells new books, if you If you want to find that kind of antique, you should go to the library.”

"But" Matthew wanted to say something else.

"If you are here to chat with someone instead of buying a book, then please get out." The clerk said impatiently, "I can give you a little help."

He stood up and drew a wand from his waist

Before Matthew could react, he was pushed out of the bookstore by an invisible force. Unable to control his actions, the boy was easily pushed out of Flourish and Blotts Bookstore, and then fell heavily onto the cobblestone floor of Diagon Alley.

Several wizards in black robes hurried past him, and no one paid him any attention.

Matthew got up from the ground in a somewhat embarrassed manner and dusted himself off.

It seems that I can't ask about the origin of that book. He looked at the sign of Flourishes and Blotts Bookstore one last time, he thought to himself.

However, although the attitude and actions of the clerk just now were very rude, the words he said did not seem to be fake.

So, where did that book come from?

Matthew returned to the entrance of Diagon Alley dejectedly.

He didn't have a wand, so he couldn't get through here, so he had to wait for a wizard to pass by, and then walk in behind him.

His heart felt a little heavy, and the strange book weighed on his heart like a mountain.

what can we do about it

The only way I can think of now is to wait until after arriving at Hogwarts and hand over the book of unknown origin to Albus Dumbledore. With Professor Dumbledore's knowledge, he might be able to come up with a solution that might help him get out of his predicament.

Suddenly, Matthew froze.

In such a world, would Albus Dumbledore still be the Headmaster of Hogwarts?

I'm afraid not anymore

With this hope dashed, he smiled sadly, and then walked to Room 13 of the Leaky Cauldron.
