The Urban Dao Child

While the two Dao children stood in a daze after hearing the voice in their minds, the people in the Heavenly Dao Palace were getting antsy.

Ryu Jinshi was constantly walking around the tea room, while Feng Yun and Atsuji Kurogame sat around the table having a sip of tea. Laohu Bai sat on the balcony sighing every now and then. The four girls were also sitting in the corner looking at the four of them.

Mika asked, "What is up with them?"

The other three shrugged their shoulders. Kiya raised her head and asked in a loud voice, "Master Ryu, you do not seem like your usual self to me, is everything alright?"

Ryu stopped and asked, "How do I usually seem to you?"

Kiya replied innocently, "I don't know, you seem very anxious at the moment, but usually you have a demeanor of a mountain, unshakable, firm, strong, and tall."

Ryu Jinshi puffed his chest after hearing the words of the 'little' girl. He nodded with a faint smile on his face. Kiya struck the iron while it was hot, "Master Ryu, why are you out of your zone?"

"Young Master and Young Mistress are going to face the Spirit of Dao Palace, I am afraid." said Ryu Jinshi.

His words stunned the four girls. Kiya asked, "What is the spirit of the Dao Palace?"

Ryu Jinshi shook his head, he did not wish to talk about it. Kiya cast her gaze to Feng Yun and Atsuji Kurogame. Laohu Bai was left out by her because the white tiger may be calm, but if she got irked by their questions, she was even more ferocious than the azure dragon.

Feng Yun took a sip from the teacup in her hand and after she put it down she said, "Looks like someone has picked up the skill of manipulation from you Eldest."

Atsuji Kurogame smiled but did not say anything. Kiya asked, "Master Feng, please tell us what is this spirit of the Dao Palace?"

Feng Yun replied with a nostalgic tone, "When everything came into being, the Dao gave birth to four spirit beasts. That is we. Then the dao itself materialized into two counterparts and set out to create the world. Just like Young master Yang and Young mistress Yin.

The two grew up and after creating the world, they had one thing left to do, to watch over it all. So they created this Heavenly Dao Palace. However, the boundless world needed a lot of people to help them watch over it. So we began to recruit people. One of these people was Zen.

Zen was responsible for watching over the maintenance and the things inside the palace. For example, if you need tea, you would call her. From small to big everything inside the palace was done by her. Her deeds earned her a lot of merits, and the masters decided to give her a wish.

Zen wished for a place where everyone in the palace could go and rest when they felt tired. Just like her name, she wished endless peace for the people. The masters created a city next to the palace, The City of Zen it was called.

When the masters went out to deal with something, they, who had never faced the corruption of their own counterbalance, the void, fell in battle. The Heavenly Palace was attacked by the void as well. We evacuated the staff inside the palace to the City but Zen did not want to leave her home.

She said, "I would rather cease to exist than to live without you Masters." that was how much she loved the two. Before the two masters vanished, they invoked the Dao Command on us. The four of us were responsible for finding the Dao Children and grooming them while Zen was commanded to guard the City Of Zen."

Feng Yun stopped speaking and Atsuji Kurogame picked up the queue, "Through the eons, there has never been a Dao Child who could even pass the trials of the mortal realm, so how could someone come to the immortal plane and reclaim the City Of Zen?

Zen would communicate with the geniuses every once in a while but they all would fail her test. We tried to ask her to be patient but she said, "I cannot rest, otherwise the people in the city would lose hope. I will never let that happen."

However, slowly, she herself lost hope in the arrival of the Dao Children. She became a machine that would organize the trial and everyone would eventually fail it. Those who got away from the trial will think of themselves as fortunate ones. Now that Dao Yin and Yang Dao have entered the City, we are worried that something might happen.

How crazy might Zen be, she wields the power of Dao. That is her origin and two unripened fruits are not enough to wake her up."

This statement made the four ladies suck in a cold breath. They did not expect it to be such a tale. Laohu Bai said, "It is about to begin. Be quiet."

The white tiger was at the end of her wit and she might go berserk if anything was to happen to Yang Dao or Dao Yin inside that City.

Dao Yin said, "Did you hear it too, Yang?"

The boy nodded his head and said, "We are not the only ones. Look at them."

The two ran their gazes to scrutinize what the other people looked like and they all had one thing in common, greed. They were all lusting after the treasure that called for them. One of the older boys said, "The treasure here belongs to me, you all can fuck off."

Dao Yin frowned, and her hand jerked slightly, but Yang Dao caught it and he said, "Let them fight among themselves, we need to deal with the cunning ones who will be hiding till the last moment."

Dao Yin nodded and they began to watch the brawl unroll in front of them. The people did not even know what the treasure was or where it was kept. They just wanted to establish the ownership first.

Soon, people were being defeated and the snakes in the shadows came out to attack. Yang Dao and Dao Yin, however, had no intention to fight. Their realm aura was enough to suppress most of the people here.

Suddenly they heard another sentence in their minds, "Why do you not fight? Do you not want to claim me, master?"

Yang Dao took a deep breath and said, "You call me master, do I really need to claim you?"

Dao Yin heard the sound from his mouth and said, "Indeed, a master does not need to claim what is there. However, you do not think of us as your master, otherwise, you would have presented yourself already."

The words were like some spell of mass destruction. They shook the whole city of zen. The ground split up and soon everyone saw a whole city appearing from underneath the ground. Yang Dao said, "This is the real city of Zen."

Dao Yin held his hand and said, "Why do I have this sense of familiarity with it? Why does it feel like meeting with..."

"Feng Yun." said the boy.

Dao Yin looked at him with a surprised gaze, and the boy also looked at her with the same eyes. It was as if something clicked in their minds. They could vaguely feel that there was a reason behind their connection. However, what it was was not clear to them.

Above the city a silhouette materialized, it was like a lady with her hair open loose, scattered across the void. The silhouette had a violet haze around it. A voice sounded again in their minds, "I have shown myself, Master, I am the Guardian of this city. Now, do you want to fight and reclaim me?"

This lure in her voice started another round of fighting among the young geniuses of the outer immortal plane. Some even went to the limits of using secret techniques and killing their opponent. However, the silhouette had no response, it was as if a machine was watching them fight.

Yang Dao spoke again, "Yin, how about we try to take down that Silhouette itself?"

Dao Yin nodded, "Since she is the treasure, then to claim her why do we need to fight the others? I agree, let us take it down."

They thought up a strategy but then Yang Dao said, "Simple attack. I will take the front, you can take the back?"

Dao Yin nodded and said, "I like this plan."

The two people agreed and they exchanged their swords. Yang Dao held the plume in his hand and said, "Partner your edge has grown fierce in the past few months. Ready to dance?"

Dao Yin caressed the reed of her sword and said, "Ash has become stronger as well. What did you do?"

Yang Dao chuckled and said, "We will take it later, first we deal with this."

Dao Yin nodded with a smile on her pretty face. And the two, shot out.
