The giant of light in the marvel world

Chapter 24 Something went wrong on the set?

Bakers Water Works.

Grant Ward led an Aegis assault team, cautiously moving through this dark and quiet factory.

There was no sound of people around, only the sound of water flowing through the metal pipes and the occasional soft sound of water droplets hitting the floor. The humidity in the air is very high, and there is a salty smell. There seemed to be a pair of vicious eyes hidden in the ubiquitous darkness, looking coldly at everyone who dared to break into this place from the shadows.

The cold metal facilities in the water supply plant looked like craggy ghosts in the darkness, showing their hideous faces, ready to turn this place into a tomb for agents at any time.

This place gave Ward an extremely uncomfortable feeling, an ominous premonition that he had never experienced in countless life-or-death missions in the past. As mentioned before, Grant Ward is not actually a real S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. His true identity is a Hydra undercover lurking within S.H.I.E.L.D.

It would be funny if he failed and died during this mission. He was clearly an undercover agent, but as a result, he suddenly became a martyr of SHIELD before he could do anything while lurking inside. When the time comes, SHIELD might even give him a badge and put his photo on the wall of honor. That would be the greatest mockery of a spy.

There was some kind of low strange scream coming from the depths of the darkness, and there was also a squeaking sound as if something was loose.

Ward stopped and stretched out his fist to signal everyone to stop.

Everyone held their breath and formed a formation. Everyone stood ready with their guns straightened, waiting quietly for the thing in the darkness to appear.

In an instant that no one expected, that thing took action.

Tentacles like vine whips pierced the solid wall, as if a poisonous python had wrapped around an agent's waist. The agent subconsciously let out a low cry, and before he even had time to pull the trigger, he was pulled into the darkness, and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

"Fire!" Ward ordered loudly and took the lead in pulling the trigger into the darkness.

From the moment he was dragged into the darkness, the agent was doomed to die. They didn't have the chance to worry too much now. If they didn't dare to fire because they were worried about their comrade and missed the best opportunity to counterattack, then their only end would be to be annihilated.

The muzzle flashes flashed one after another, and the steel projectiles were poured into the endless darkness like hot raindrops. There was another dull strange sound briefly in the darkness, and then it was quiet again.

No one spoke, but the emotion called fear hovered in the dark air like a lingering cloud.

Lovecraft once said that the oldest and strongest human emotion is fear; the oldest and strongest fear comes from the unknown. that's the truth.

These agents, who have been living with life and death all year round, are not afraid of death, but they are afraid of darkness, of being dragged into the darkness by the unknown enemy and facing death that does not know what form it will come in.

Ten seconds later, the attack came again—this time from underground. The concrete floor was pierced like a thin piece of paper, and two long whips wrapped around the two agents respectively, dragging them into the darkness when they were defenseless.

But this time Ward was already on full alert. After the two agents were dragged in, he immediately threw SHIELD's special high-explosive grenades and incendiary bombs into the holes in the ground. A violent roar exploded in the space under everyone's feet, causing the ground beneath their feet to tremble slightly. The flames erupted from the ground like a twisted dragon erupting from the cavity. The fire pillar with a temperature of over a thousand degrees hit the ceiling, almost melting through the metal.

The explosion ended, but the shaking under everyone's feet suddenly intensified. The dull roars suddenly escalated, as if something was violently hitting the floor from below, and the entire water supply plant began to tremble violently!

Ward realized something was wrong and hurriedly shouted: "Retreat! Retreat!"

But maybe it's a little late. Whips pierced out of the wall one after another, and one agent after another was grabbed by the thing and dragged into the darkness without a trace. Cracks spread along the walls and floor like crazy, gravel and dust fell from the ceiling, and the floor crackled like a cracked eggshell.

Tentacles pierced out one after another, and the huge black shadow crushed the ground, rising from the ground like a giant whale emerging from the water. The pipe burst and everything in the factory was shattered, like a strong earthquake.

The foundation of the water supply plant collapsed, as if a huge mouth had opened and swallowed the entire building. Grant Ward ran like crazy and finally escaped being buried alive. Looking back, he saw that only two of the group of agents who went in with him escaped alive with him. The losses were heavy.

Coulson hurriedly came over. The SHIELD doctor held the tablet and shouted at the top of his lungs: "Here it comes! That thing is here! It's starting to move, and it's coming up soon."

Before he could finish speaking, tons of dust was stirred up in the pit. The giant shadow rose from the ground and finally revealed its true form in front of everyone.

In terms of appearance, it should be a red bug. It has a disgusting shape, a long tail, sharp mouthparts, and long red tentacles on its hands - obviously this is the true appearance of the whip-like thing before.

But this insect is nearly fifty meters tall.

"Oh my God." The doctor held the tablet in his hand and stared blankly at the huge insect, as if he was watching a miracle.

Coulson and Ward were also shocked. Even as SHIELD agents who deal with irregular events all year round, they have never seen anything like this.

Coulson was a senior agent after all. He quickly forced himself to recover from his shock and pressed the headset to order: "Attack this thing for me, with maximum firepower!"

"receive."

The Quinjet that had been waiting in the air slowly lowered its altitude and lowered the large-caliber Gatling onboard the Quinjet. The barrel rotated rapidly, flames poured out like long tongues, and bullets like raindrops spattered on the shell of the giant bug, but it seemed to have no effect.

The pylon was protruded from the bottom of the Quinjet, and a pair of missiles ignited with a bang, drawing a burning trajectory in the night and flying straight out, exploding a large ball of dazzling fireball with a deafening roar.

Not far from the outskirts of the blockade, Richard, who had just arrived, looked at the Aegis fighter planes and the giant insect in the firefight, and his heart felt like ten thousand mythical beasts and grass mud horses galloping past.

Did he accidentally run back to Tsuburaya's set or something?
