The Ancient Genes

Axel returned back to the stands with a dark look on his face. He was clearly not happy.

"What's wrong?" Mark asked him a frown, but Axel just shook his head. But, his face was slowly turning towards Eren, with his eyes releasing a menacing glare.

Eren slowly began to feel a chill too, and when he turned his head, he realized that Axel had returned. But, why did it looked like that some had murdered his girlfriend?

"Did something happen?" Eren asked, looking at him.

"Why don't you tell me about it?" Axel asked in return.

"Tell what?" Eren asked in confusion. He didn't understand what Axle meant.

"Well, you should know. You have been hiding a lot of things from me." Axel smiled at him. But, it didn't seem to be an angelic one.

"I don't know what this is all about, but I sure don't want to hear that from you. You people come and go as you wish without even informing us. So, don't tell me that I am hiding things. And, even if I did, maybe your habits rubbed off of me." Eren retorted, a bit irritated.

He was already not feeling well after having his image destroyed and being treated as a cold hearted person, and now this.....you had to give him a rest..

Axel fell silent for a second, but then his anger flared up again. What he hid was something that couldn't be shared so easily. Not to mention, it wasn't so urgent for Eren. And, the truth would only put him in distress if he knew about it.

But what about Axel?

It was entirely opposite from him.

Still, he held back for now. This was a public place after all, and he didn't want to cause any commotion.

"Meet me in my room after we return." He ordered Eren. One could see that he was using a domineering tone here. The people around couldn't understand what had gotten him so angry.

"I don't have time," Eren was a bit ticked off as well.

The two glared at each other with sparks flying in between them.

"Will you guys only glare or fight?" Wilson asked nonchalantly as he yawned a bit.

At this moment, Mark stepped in as he couldn't continue to see the situation get any worse.

"What's wrong with you two?" He looked at the two and then sighed. "Don't behave like kids. Just talk it out if there is some issue."

"Sure, I am all up for a talk. Not to mention, I am very eager to know why he did something so important from me." Axel's eyes were spewing out flames as he looked at Eren.

Eren looked at Axel in confusion. He clearly had no idea what this was all about. As for Naze, he definitely had forgotten about him.

Max had spend his free time in training. It had been a while since he got this opportunity to train as he wished. The feeling was refreshing. He felt that he was getting closer to his next breakthrough in Spirit Arts. It was most likely because he had gained a tremendous amount of energy after contracting two spirits. And, now that he was managing to gain a bit of control, it immediately began to show signs of a break through.

He wondered what level he would reach by the time he had total control over this excess spirit energy.

Sera too had been sticking close to him during the whole day. After all, he hadn't been able to spend much time with her recently.

Andriel could only look at the girl helplessly. With her sticking to Max like glue, she couldn't do as she wished.

"Max! I want to learn to fight!" Sera spoke as she clenched her fist. There was a determined look in her eyes. And, it surprised both Max and Andriel.

Her vocabulary and intelligence had continued to slowly grow with each passing day, and now she could understand almost everything like a normal child. It was another that she loved to act spoiled.

"What's with the sudden change of mood?" Max asked her with a smile. He had to actually force her to train a bit, and it was a tiring task everyday. And, yet the same girl who hated training was asking for it.

It sure felt odd to him. But, he was sure that the girl hadn't grown enough to start scheming with him.

He couldn't help but look at Andriel and wonder if it was her doing. But, Andriel just shook her head.

"I want to grow strong and beat all the bad guys who hurt you. I will protect you from now," She said with a smile, and Max was taken back honestly before breaking out into a smile.

"Sure, then I will train you a lot harder. So, be sure to protect me from now on." Max nodded at her, and played along. Not to mention, it wasn't a bad idea. She had to grow stronger as well, and gain control of her abilities. They didn't have much time after all.

Max could only let out a bitter sigh inwardly. If he had the opportunity, he would have let Sera grow at a natural pace, and let her do what she wanted to . But, the situation definitely wasn't in his favor.

After a while, he got out of the spirit world.

As he was about to go and take a bath, a message popped up in front of him.

<<Axel: Meet me in an hour..>>

<<Ruler: Is something wrong?>>

Max replied feeling a bit odd. Normally, if it was just to hang out, Axel would surely mention it. But, in this case, it wasn't so.

<<Axel: Well, it is indeed something very important for me. But, it might be trivial for you. Who knows?>>

Max frowned. He was taken back by his wording. Was this guy taking a dig at him? Was this some sort of complaint?

'Well, I wonder if it someone pissed him off.' Max shook his head, 'Maybe, Wilson did something..'

He slowly walked into the bathroom having know idea about the situation that he would soon be in.
