HP Dawn Night

Chapter 232 Unforgivable Curse

When I learned that Lucius Malfoy had been arrested and imprisoned in Azkaban, I suddenly became aware of the Dark Lord's intentions. In the past, the Malfoy family worked for him, but now he has chosen a candidate to replace Malfoy: Snape.Father and daughter, two generations of wizards, and maybe even a family of Death Eaters in the future... The Dark Lord's conspiracy made me shudder. When I went to talk to my father about my thoughts, he gave me a meaningful look:

"Everybody loses a lot in war."

"What does that mean?" If he was implying that my relationship with Draco might break down, then it was probably doomed.

Dad unexpectedly paused for a moment, then shook his head, I found he looked a little sad abnormally: "It's nothing."

My intuition told me that he was hiding something from me, but I didn't press further. The Dark Lord's mission gave me even more headaches, and I kept thinking about how to do it.Kill Dumbledore? This is completely impossible for me, how can I possibly kill the greatest White Wizard who ever lived? Not to mention - maybe I could tell Dumbledore about the Dark Lord's plans.

It seemed a seamless idea: my dad was a double agent, and my mom was on the Continent. It doesn't sound like it's out of the question to go all in on Dumbledore. And I've decided long ago that I'm on Harry Potter's side, so...so, should I snitch?

While I was hesitating, an unexpected visitor visited Spider's End: Aunt Narcissa, and -- Bellatrix.

I can't forget the way Bella looked at me that day, like a poisonous snake looking at a mouse it teased. In the Death Eater team, I'm afraid the only person I fear is Bellatrix. She is as cruel as her master, and besides, she enjoys the pleasure of playing with her opponents.Such a woman really lived up to the title of "female warrior", even her paranoia and madness towards black magic had distorted her original beautiful face.

"He gave Draco a mission...he couldn't do it..."

I hid at the corner of the stairs and eavesdropped on their conversation. Aunt Narcissa seemed to be begging for something. From her words, I probably guessed that the Dark Lord also assigned a task to Draco. However, I can't think of anything in the world that could be more impossible than "Kill Dumbledore".

"Of course," said Pa, "but what help do you need, Narcissa? If you imagine that I can persuade the Dark Lord to change his mind, I'm afraid it's hopeless, not at all."

"Severus," Narcissa sobbed, "my son... my only son..."

"Draco should be proud," said Bella grimly. "The Dark Lord has given him great honor. And I'll say it for Draco: he didn't back down from his responsibilities, and he seemed delighted to have the opportunity." Proving what he's capable of, he's very excited about what's coming—"

Narcissa cried sadly: "That's because he's only 16 years old and doesn't know what's waiting for him! Why, Snape? Why my son? It's too dangerous! This is for revenge on Lucius Mistake, I know!"

"That's why he chose Draco, isn't it?" she demanded, "Just to punish Lucius, isn't it?"

"If Draco succeeds," I heard Dad's voice, "he'll be honored."

"But he won't succeed!" cried Narcissa. "How could he, even the Dark Lord himself—"

"Cissy!" Bella exclaimed angrily.

"I mean...since no one has ever made it...Severus...please...you have been, and still are, Draco's favorite teacher...you are an old friend of Lucius... ...I beg you...you are the Dark Lord's favorite confidant, most trusted advisor...can you talk to him and convince him-"

"The Dark Lord can't be persuaded, and I wouldn't be stupid enough to try it," said Dad stiffly. "I can't pretend that the Dark Lord wasn't mad at Lucius. Lucius should have been there at the time." And then he got himself caught, and so many people, and he couldn't get the Prophecy Ball back. Yes, the Dark Lord is angry, Narcissa, very angry indeed."

"It seems that I'm right, he chose Draco for revenge!" Narcissa choked up and said, "He doesn't want him to succeed at all, he just wants him to die!"

"It's an honor." Bellatrix said softly, "Snape, didn't the Dark Lord also love your daughter?"

"I think so," said Dad slowly. "It's an honor, as you say."

"I know what you exchanged with him," Bella hissed, lowering her voice. "It's a ruse? You want to give your darling a way out? Maybe the Dark Lord trusts you, but I don't, Stein Nep--"

"Well, I respect your idea." I heard the sound of the wine glass being placed on the table, "but he seems more willing to let me participate in the plan."

Bella seemed to have been greatly humiliated: "That's just because you're closer—closer to him!" I'm confused, who is "he"?

"That's right. A large part of the Dark Lord's trust is probably because I can provide him with more substantial help." Dad retorted, "If you know what I mean."

"Of course I see what you mean, Snape," Bella cried. "If you'd rather hide behind than charge—"

"He's really taking revenge... In other words, he doesn't care if Draco dies!" Narcissa wailed, interrupting the argument between the other two.

"The Dark Lord is very angry," Pa repeated softly. "He failed to hear the prophecy. You know as well as I do, Narcissa, that he is not easy to forgive."

"My only son...my only son..."

"You should be proud!" said Bellatrix grimly. "If I had sons, I would gladly sacrifice them to serve the Dark Lord!"

Narcissa let out a cry of despair.

"Narcissa, that's fine. Drink this and listen to me." Dad hesitated for a moment, "Maybe I can... help Draco."

"Severus—oh, Severus—will you help him? Will you take care of him and keep him safe?"

"I can give it a try."

"If you'll be there to protect him... Severus, can you promise? Can you make an unbreakable vow?"

"The Unbreakable Vow?" Dad's voice pulled away again, and Bellatrix let out a smug laugh.

"Didn't you catch that, Narcissa? Oh, he'll try, I'm sure . . . again the same nonsense, the same flight... oh, of course, at the behest of the Dark Lord! But Then again...Snape, if your daughter were to miss, wouldn't the Dark Lord want her too?"

Downstairs was quiet for a moment.

"I don't quite understand what you mean," Dad said cautiously.

Bella snorted, "That's much harder than Draco's task, isn't it?"

"I think this just reflects the importance and trust the Dark Lord has in us."

"Oh...he wanted Draco to do it, but then he realized he had someone better beside him." Bella sneered lazily.

Dad's voice suddenly became unfathomable: "Is this your proposal?"

Bella chuckled, "Don't say that, Severus, I just showed the Dark Lord better options. But then again, aren't you happy to see him trust you so much?"

silence.

"Of course I'm happy. After all, the Dark Lord will soon realize that there is a better candidate by his side. Maybe it's okay to give up swords and choose flowers."

Before Bellatrix could react, Dad continued to speak to Narcissa:

"Of course, Narcissa, I can make an unbreakable oath," he said softly. "Perhaps your sister will agree to be our witness."

The robe was dragged on the ground, and Narcissa spoke:

"Severus, will you watch over my son Draco while he tries to fulfill the Dark Lord's will?"

"I am willing."

"Are you willing to do your best to protect him from harm?"

"I am willing."

"And, if necessary... if Draco is about to fail..." Narcissa whispered, "are you willing to carry out what the Dark Lord told Draco to do?"

A moment of silence.I held my breath on the stairs. "I would." Dad said.

A blinding firelight illuminated the dimly lit living room.I stepped back from the oncoming light.Sure enough, it was she, Bellatrix who recommended me to the Dark Lord.

The author has something to say:
