The most powerful wizard in the magic world

Chapter 80: First Test of Edge

I walked out of my mentor Gofat's study, feeling both excited and nervous. Seventeen years old is already an age for a third-class apprentice to stand out. But even though I have been recognized by my mentor, the sense of responsibility in my heart is as heavy as a mountain.

"Ares!" Nali's voice came from behind me. She hurriedly caught up with me with a smile on her face. "I heard that you got the title of third-class apprentice today? That's amazing!"

"It's just a title." I scratched my head, trying to hide my pride. "You know, I still need to keep working hard."

Nali gently tugged at my sleeve, her eyes gleaming with anticipation. "But this is the result of your hard work! Let's celebrate together and go to a restaurant for a good meal."

I couldn't help but smile as I thought of the countless times we had studied together. "Okay, but you have to treat me to your favorite dessert."

When Nali heard this, she jumped up with joy. "Deal! I'll go find a place to make a reservation now!"

Walking on the street, the lively atmosphere around me made me relax. In front of the shops, there were colorful goods, and the small stalls on the corners were full of people coming and going. The air was filled with the aroma of fresh bread. I took a deep breath and secretly decided in my heart that I must strive for a higher position for myself in the future.

Soon after, we arrived at a restaurant called "Sweet House", which was filled with warm lights and white walls covered with photos and smiling faces of customers. The waiter greeted us warmly and took us to a seat by the window.

"What would you like to order?" the waiter asked with a smile.

"I want a strawberry cream cake!" Nali said without hesitation, and then turned to me, "What about you, Ares?"

"I'd like some chocolate mousse." I smiled slightly, still thinking about what my mentor had just told me.

Soon, the dessert came, and Nali and I began to enjoy this special celebration. Every bite of the cake was so delicious, the sweet cream and the sour and sweet strawberries intertwined together, making me feel the beauty of life.

"Ares, the title you have won this time is something that many people envy." Nali said seriously, with admiration in her eyes. "Teacher Gofat must have high hopes for you."

"Yes, he hopes that I can master more advanced skills, but I also understand that this is just the beginning." I said softly, my heart full of confusion and desire for the future.

Suddenly, there was a commotion outside the window, and I couldn't help but look over. I saw several young people gathered together, discussing something intensely. A sturdy man with wrinkled face was particularly eye-catching. He was holding a shining tool in his hand and explaining loudly.

"This is a newly developed tool that can greatly improve work efficiency!" he said proudly, his voice clearly reaching our ears.

"Do you really believe it? This is an unproven product!" another young man retorted.

"I've seen its effects with my own eyes! If you don't believe it, you'll stay where you are forever!" The man spoke in an arrogant tone. The young people around him were still skeptical, but they were obviously influenced by him.

"Ares, do you think what he said is true?" Nali asked curiously.

I thought for a moment and shook my head. “I think any tool can only be considered a theory before it is tested. Mature technology always takes time to verify.”

Nali nodded, a trace of admiration flashing in her eyes. "You are really smart, Ares. During your apprenticeship, you must try and think more, so that you can continue to improve yourself."

I smiled bitterly, but I felt a warm current in my heart. Nali's trust made me more determined. Just as we were immersed in the delicious dessert, an old man in a robe and long hair walked in. He walked straight towards us with a friendly smile on his face.

"Are you celebrating?" he asked, a kind look in his eyes.

"Yes, I just got the title of third-class apprentice." I answered a little shyly.

"Wow, that's really amazing!" The old man smiled and praised, "This achievement is definitely not easy, you should be proud of yourself."

"Thank you." A smile appeared on my face. I couldn't help feeling a little complacent when I heard the compliment.

"But remember, a true apprentice is not just about getting a title, but also about having substantive knowledge and skills." The old man continued, his tone revealing a deep wisdom, "You need to keep seeking, and never be satisfied with the status quo."

"I will." I nodded vigorously and swore silently in my heart.

The old man smiled, said goodbye to us, and continued to walk to another table, while Nali and I were immersed in our expectations for the future.

It was a message from my instructor: "I will arrange a field technical test, remember to prepare in advance." I was shocked, nervous and expectant. Although I have been awarded the title of third-class apprentice, this responsibility weighs on my shoulders like a mountain.

"Ares, what's wrong?" Nali keenly noticed my change and asked with concern.

"My instructor has arranged a field technical test, and I have to prepare well." I sighed, feeling mixed emotions, "I don't know if I can do it."

"Don't worry!" Nali encouraged, "You are already very good. As long as you maintain your current state, you will definitely achieve good results. Believe in yourself!"

"Thank you, Nali." I forced a smile, but secretly thought about how difficult the days ahead would be.

It was late at night, we ended the celebration and walked on the street, the moonlight was silvery and the breeze was gentle. My heart was mixed with confusion and expectation about the future, as if the whole world was unfolding at my feet. But I know that only practice can make dreams come true, and only hard work can allow me to stand on a higher stage.

"Ares, do your best tomorrow!" Nali said, and then gently touched my forehead, "I will support you here!"

"Okay, see you tomorrow!" I smiled slightly, feeling a warm feeling in my heart, as if her encouragement could help me overcome my fear in the next challenge.

Just as I was about to say goodbye, I looked back and saw Nali's expectant face, intertwined with the shadows under the street lamp, as if telling me about the unknown journey tomorrow. I took a deep breath and said to myself: "Tomorrow, I will fight with all my strength!"
