The most powerful wizard in the magic world

Chapter 37: Calming Down the Anger

Green stood in the dark and damp corridor, holding a stack of documents in his hands. His eyes swept across the cells where the prisoners were held, and behind each iron door, he could faintly hear low shouts and desperate sighs. His mission was to ensure that these prisoners stayed here safely until Gelling conducted the experiment.

"Green, are you ready?" A low voice came from behind, interrupting his thoughts.

"Yes, Doctor, everyone has been settled." Green turned around and saw Gerling approaching. At this moment, Gerling was wearing a white coat, looking particularly cold, and his eyes exuded an elusive enthusiasm.

"Very good." Gerling nodded, his mouth slightly raised, as if thinking about something. "Their reaction data will provide crucial information for my research."

"But, Doctor..." Green hesitated and continued, "I still think these prisoners might rebel."

"Resist?" Gerling raised his eyebrows, and the smile on his lips suddenly tightened. "This is my laboratory, no one can escape. Even if they want to, they may not have the courage."

"But..." Green hesitated. He knew he couldn't question such a fanatical genius, so he could only suppress the uneasiness in his heart. "I will make sure every prisoner is well guarded."

"At least let me see their reactions." Gerling smiled coldly, hiding his excitement. "This is a great scientific advancement. We can't let emotions interfere with research."

In Gellin's eyes, the results of the experiment were above all else. Their conversation was interrupted by the gradually fading shouts, and Gellin took a deep breath and walked deeper into the corridor.

Walking to the first cell, Green looked at the prisoner. The prisoner's thin body was twisted by the shadow of the iron bars, and his eyes were full of despair and regret. Green was silent for a while, and finally said: "What's your name?"

"Why do you want to know? You're going to die in the end anyway." The prisoner replied coldly, his voice revealing numbness and despair.

"I asked for your name." Green raised his voice slightly, trying to force the prisoner to look him in the eye.

"Tang, Jack Tang." The prisoner finally raised his head. Although there was hostility in his eyes, he could still feel the oppressive atmosphere.

"Jack, listen, there will be experiments later. If you cooperate, you may get some benefits." Green tried his best to remain calm and tried to ease the tense situation with a calm tone.

"Do you think I believe you?" Jack's mouth curled up, revealing a sarcastic smile. "Here, any second is a countdown to death."

"You don't have to panic, but I want to remind you that any non-cooperation with the experiment will lead to serious consequences." Green tried to make his voice as deep as possible, revealing a hidden threat intentionally or unintentionally.

He turned and walked towards the second cell, feeling somewhat uneasy. Green knew that the prisoners in front of him were no longer simple criminals, but perfect experimental subjects in Gelling's eyes. He couldn't help but think of the creepy equipment in the laboratory.

"Green!" Gerling's voice came from behind again. He waved at Green, "This way, come here!"

Green hurried back and saw Gerling standing at the door of the laboratory, his eyes flashing with enthusiasm. "The experiment is about to begin, quickly arrange everyone."

"Doctor, please wait a moment." Green looked worried. "If one of the prisoners really resists, have you considered the emergency plan?"

Gerling raised his head and sneered, "I am not worried about resistance, because all this is a pointless struggle. Moreover, I believe that the greater their pain, the stronger their reaction will be. We will get unimaginable results."

Greene suppressed his discomfort. He knew that Gerling was a very talented scientist, but at the same time, he was also shocked by the enthusiasm in his eyes. The development of things always exceeded his imagination.

"Hurry up, let's get started!" Gerling's voice gradually became louder, full of eager anticipation.

Green was silent for a moment, and finally turned around to make arrangements. He walked towards the third cell, where a burly prisoner was banging on the cell door, shouting angrily: "Let me out! You crazy people!"

"Chris, calm down!" He tried to soothe the prisoner while locking onto his figure. "We don't want to hurt you."

"I've heard too much of your talk!" Chris grinned, "Don't expect me to obey."

"This is an experiment, Chris, cooperation might be beneficial." Green persuaded patiently.

"Hmph, that sounds nice! Do you think I will believe it?" Chris gritted his teeth, his face filled with unquenchable anger.

"Okay, then you wait and see the results of the experiment." Green turned and left, feeling a little uneasy. It seemed that this experiment was getting out of control.

Green walked back to the lab and saw Gerling adjusting the experimental equipment. The complex instruments were flashing disturbing lights under the white light. Gerling turned around with an even weirder smile on his face. "Come on, Green, let's get started."

"Are you all ready?" Green tried to keep his voice calm.

"In a few minutes, the prisoners will be taken to the laboratory." Gelling looked focused, just moving between the instruments, as if everything was under his control.

Green looked at the ropes, chains, and those innocent-looking experimental equipment, and a strong feeling of disgust surged in his heart. "Doctor, is all this really necessary?"

"It is necessary, Green. Science can only achieve real breakthroughs in despair and pain. You should know this," Gellin's cold eyes were as sharp as a knife, "Every step will pave the way for the advancement of science."

Green was speechless. He began to understand that he seemed to have been deeply involved in this weird experiment. Although he felt a sense of urgency, he could only wait silently.

After a while, Gelling began to arrange for the staff to bring each prisoner to the laboratory one by one. The prisoners were forced to walk through the corridor, pale and dazed. Gelling's eyes flickered over them, as if he was looking at each of the experimental subjects.

Finally, all the prisoners were brought to the laboratory and divided into several groups. The air was filled with tension, and Gelling was full of anticipation, ready to start his new experiment.
