Gerlin's heart was still beating fast. The battle just now made him almost unable to believe that they really escaped. Brigitte leaned against the wall, her face pale, breathing heavily, and her eyes flashing with panic and anxiety.

"Are you okay?" Gerling asked in a low voice, his eyes full of concern.

"I'm fine... I'm just a little weak for a moment." Brigitte nodded slightly, trying to hide her inner panic. She looked up at Gerlin, and there was a hint of pleading in her tone, "We must find a way out. We can't stop."

"You're right." Grin gritted his teeth as he recalled the battle just now. "That masked guy must still be looking for you. We have to hurry. Follow me closely."

As they moved forward, a tense atmosphere filled the dim corridor. Gerlin's hand was always tightly gripping the hilt of his sword, ready to deal with the next threat at any time. There was a closed door next to the corridor. The inscription on the door was blurred, but he could feel the hidden danger.

"Why did they arrest you?" Gerling asked suddenly. Although he already knew the answer, he still wanted to hear Brigitte's explanation.

"Because of the ancient scroll in my hand." Brigitte frowned, with a trace of uneasiness in her eyes. "They think I can interpret the power in the scroll and change the fate of this academy."

"We must get the scroll to a safe place," Gerling said, moving quietly to avoid making any noise. He knew that the scroll represented a powerful force and must not fall into the hands of the enemy.

Suddenly, there were several hurried footsteps in the distance. Gerlin stopped immediately, pulled Brigitte to his side, and whispered, "Hurry, hide over there!"

The two quickly hid in a small room next to them and observed the movements outside through the crack of the door. In the dim light, two tall apprentices walked by with stern expressions on their faces. They talked in low voices from time to time, as if discussing the next action to take.

"We have to split up and check every room." One of the apprentices ordered, his voice as cold as ice, "We must not let that girl escape."

"I see." Another apprentice replied, with a hint of greed in his eyes, "I heard that she has a scroll that can change everything."

"After we find her, the first thing we will do is bring her to the leader." The apprentice said, and then walked towards another corridor with his companions.

Listening to their conversation, Gerling's heart tightened. He knew that they didn't have much time left. He turned around and saw that Brigitte's face was full of fear and anger. He gently held her hand and tried to comfort her: "Don't be afraid, we will definitely find a safe place."

"But, if we are caught by them, I'm afraid..." Brigitte's voice was weak and trembling.

"Never give up hope. Remember your mission." Gerling looked at her firmly, trying to convey strength. "I will protect you."

They waited for a moment, and after confirming that there was no movement outside, Gellin carefully opened the door and walked out of the small room. They moved more cautiously, not daring to make any noise. In front of a heavy door, Gellin stopped and thought about his next move.

"What's behind this door?" Brigitte asked in a low voice, with a hint of uneasiness in her eyes.

"I think we have to try." Gerling knew they had no choice. He gently pushed open the door, and the scene inside shocked him. It was a huge library with towering bookshelves full of ancient scrolls and books. But above the books hung complex magic circles, emitting strange light, as if warning intruders.

"This seems to be..." Brigitte's eyes flickered, "I've heard of this place. Many lost magics and scrolls are here."

"We have to be careful." Gerlin looked around vigilantly, "Perhaps we can find the scroll you mentioned here."

"Yes, if we can find that scroll, we can break the enemy's plan." A glimmer of hope gradually emerged in Brigitte's eyes.

They walked through the bookshelves carefully, examining each book and scroll. Gerling tried not to make any noise, fearing to alert the enemy hiding inside. At this moment, Brigitte's fingers accidentally touched a scroll with a worn cover, and the light of the scroll flickered instantly, and a weak energy wave spread out.

"Don't touch it!" Gerlin immediately became alert. In order to protect Brigitte, he quickly pulled her behind him and pointed the sword in the direction of the scroll.

"I didn't touch it on purpose..." Brigitte's eyes were confused, "This seems to be some kind of summoning magic..."

Just as they were trying to figure out the secret of the scroll, a burst of hurried footsteps suddenly came from the other end of the warehouse. Gerlin's heart sank, and he turned around and looked at Brigitte.

"Hurry, hide!" He quickly pointed to a bookshelf next to him.

The two of them quietly hid between a set of bookshelves, holding their breath, and Gerling's heartbeat seemed to jump out of his chest. Just then, several apprentices came in, looking solemnly and carefully.

"We have to find her quickly. She must have left some traces here." One of the apprentices said gritting his teeth.

"There's a little light over there, let's go and take a look." Another apprentice gestured and walked straight towards the direction of the bookshelf.

Gellin held his breath and stared at those people. He moved closer to Brigitte and whispered, "Once we are discovered, we must fight to break out."

"I understand." Brigitte nodded, but she felt uneasy.

"Hey, did you hear any noise?" An apprentice suddenly stopped, holding the staff in his hand and looking around.

Gerling's heart suddenly tightened. He knew that his hiding place was threatened and the situation was critical.

"Hurry, we can't be discovered!" he whispered, while gripping the hilt of the sword tightly, ready to strike at any time.

Just as the apprentice was about to approach, an idea flashed through Gerling's mind. He quickly reached out and picked up a heavy book from the bookshelf, and threw it far away to attract attention.

"What?" The apprentice was shocked and immediately turned around and ran towards the source of the sound.

"Let's go!" Gerlin pulled Brigitte and quickly escaped from their hiding place and ran out of the library.

The sound of their heartbeats was particularly clear in the silent corridor, and Gerling's face showed despair and determination. He knew that he needed to do his best to protect Brigitte, and she was the key to uncovering the secrets of the future.
