The most powerful wizard in the magic world
Chapter 168 Strange Light
"Sauron!" Her voice pierced the silence like a sharp blade, causing the apprentice who was studying the magic scroll in the study to stop what he was doing. Soran looked up, with a hint of doubt and vigilance in his eyes.
"You called me?" Soran put away the scroll in his hand and frowned. "What happened?"
Emilia's expression was like the sea before a storm, fluctuating. "I swear, I saw him! He is the traitor, the one who betrayed our faith!"
"Who are you talking about?" Soran stood up, feeling an inexplicable uneasiness in his heart. "What on earth happened?"
"Our mentor, the man mentioned in the portrait of the Dark Sage - Edric!" Emilia's eyes were filled with anger, "How dare he appear in our territory! I must hunt him down!"
"Edric?" Soran frowned slightly. "Are you sure it's him you see? We all know he has been missing for many years. Why did he show up now?"
Emilia's face was tightened with anger, and the corners of her mouth twitched slightly. "His appearance is definitely not accidental. He wants to take back our power and retrieve the sealed dark magic. He must be stopped!"
Soran took a deep breath and slowly approached, his eyes as sharp as a hawk. "What if you are not careful and he finds you? He is a tough guy after all, we can't act rashly."
"But I can't just sit there and watch, Soran!" Emilia's voice rose an octave, full of determination and unyielding. "Every day we study in this cabin is to protect secrets and power. His existence is a huge threat, and I can't retreat at this critical moment!"
Soran's eyes gradually softened. He knew Emilia's determination. But he also knew that this road was full of dangers. "Well, if you insist on going, I'll go with you." He whispered, "But be careful. We need to make a plan."
"Plan?" Emilia raised her head, hope glittering in her eyes. "Are you saying we should act together?"
"Yes, we must understand his motives and make sure he doesn't catch us." Soran thought about it and decided not to stay out of it.
Emilia nodded, her heart already boiling with blood. She was like a wild horse eager to run, and couldn't wait to face the enemy face to face.
"So where should we start?" she asked, a hint of urgency in her tone.
"First, we need to look for some clues." Soran pondered for a moment, meditating on the area around their cabin. "I remember some seniors mentioned that they had seen a spell related to Edric in an abandoned church near the cabin."
"Abandoned church?" Emilia's eyes sparkled. "That's where the legendary dark forces gather. As apprentices, we have always been warned not to get close to it."
"That's right, but we have no choice now," Soran said firmly. He turned around, grabbed the black cloak beside him, and put it on. "We need to get the information we need from it."
"Then let's go!" Emilia no longer hesitated and responded to Soran with a smile, her eyes lit with fighting spirit. The two walked out of the hut and headed towards the church, their figures gradually disappearing in the swaying shadows of the trees.
With the weak light, they stepped on the thick fallen leaves, and their footsteps echoed in the quiet forest. Emilia walked in front, leading the exploration, feeling every movement under her feet. Soran followed closely behind, carefully observing the surroundings and trying to avoid any potential dangers.
"The air here is so eerie," Emilia sighed, her uneasiness growing. "I always have a bad feeling."
"Don't worry, Emilia." Soran tried to calm her down. "As long as we are careful, there will be no problem."
However, before she finished speaking, a low voice came from the surroundings, like a ghost whispering in her ear, which was creepy. Emilia turned her head, her eyes full of fear: "Sauron, did you hear it?"
"Keep calm, and we will keep moving forward." Soran's voice was firm, like a beacon in the darkness.
When they finally arrived at the entrance of the abandoned church, the heavy stone door was covered with desolate moss. Emilia and Soran looked at each other, and a surge of courage surged in their hearts. No matter how many unknown dangers lay ahead, they had no way out.
"Are you ready?" Soran asked, holding a long staff in his hand with a determined expression on his face.
"I'm ready," Emilia replied, her eyes gleaming with determination.
Together, they pushed open the door of the church. There was a rotten smell inside, and the old stone pillars stood like guards. The sun shone through the broken windows and sprinkled on the ground, forming mysterious spots of light. The two walked in slowly, with endless vigilance in their hearts.
"Let's take a look around first." Soran whispered, his eyes wandering around. They began to explore the shadowy church, gradually going deeper into the darkness inside.
"There seem to be some traces of spells here." Emilia stopped and was shocked when she saw the symbols vaguely engraved on the wall.
"This is a symbol of demonic magic," said Soran, frowning slightly. "If Edric really uses these powers, then we must find a way to stop him."
Just as the two were observing carefully, a sudden gust of cold wind blew and the stone door of the church closed automatically. The two turned around instantly and found that there was no light outside the door anymore. The surroundings suddenly became darker, as if they were completely closed.
"What's going on?" Emilia asked hurriedly, a hint of fear rising in her heart.
"Calm down, don't panic." Soran tried to soothe her emotions, "We are not trapped yet, we are just imprisoned by some kind of magic."
Suddenly, the runes on the wall began to emit a faint blue light, and a low spell echoed in the air. "You came at the right time... I have been waiting for this day."
Soran and Emilia were shocked and looked up. A tall figure walked out from the shadows. It was Edric. His sneer echoed in the church, as if it came from the depths of hell.
"Edric!" Emilia shouted, anger welling up in her heart, "You traitor, you will pay for your crimes today!"
