The most powerful wizard in the magic world
Chapter 120 The Burden
In the dim library, the lonely candlelight flickered, as if whispering to the time-honored books on the bookshelf. Thomas held the torn wizard's notebook, his heart full of doubts and expectations. He turned and slowly walked to the window. The night outside enveloped the entire town, and a hint of mysterious coldness was revealed in the silence.
"Thomas, what are you reading?" Emma's voice broke the silence of the night. She walked out from behind the bookshelf, holding a yellowed old book in her hand, which looked particularly heavy.
"This is a page of notes on meditation, Emma," Thomas said, staring at the mottled paper. He gently unfolded the notes and showed them to her. "It mentions a way to help people transcend themselves, and it seems to have a wonderful connection with energy and soul."
Emma walked closer curiously, squinting her eyes and reading the lines carefully. Her brows furrowed slightly, "Is this a wizard's manuscript? It looks a little weird. Are you sure you want to try this method?"
"I don't know, but... I really want to try it," Thomas' voice was mixed with excitement, "If we can master this meditation method, maybe we can find more power and wisdom."
"Power? Thomas, this pursuit may bring unexpected consequences." Emma shook her head, looking worried. "Do you remember the trouble we encountered during the last investigation?"
“But this time is different,” Thomas countered. “I feel that the thoughts conveyed in this note are pure, and it may not lead us astray.”
Emma sighed. Although she was wary, Thomas's determination made it difficult for her to completely object. "Well, what are you going to do?"
“I want to find a quiet place and meditate according to the instructions in my notebook,” Thomas replied, his tone revealing a fearless determination.
"I'll accompany you." Emma said suddenly, with anxiety and determination flashing in her eyes, "No matter what, I don't want you to face it alone."
"Thank you, Emma." Thomas smiled, grateful in his heart. But he knew that the meditation process might trigger some emotions and conflicts that he had not expected.
They walked out of the library, the moonlight sprinkled on the streets of the town, and the silver light shone through the gaps between the branches and sprinkled on the two of them, like a thin veil. Thomas and Emma strolled to a remote open space, far away from the hustle and bustle, an ideal place for meditation.
"Are you ready?" Emma stopped in the middle of the clearing and looked around to make sure there was no one else.
"Yes, I'm ready." Thomas closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and felt the silence around him. He silently recited the spell mentioned in the notebook in his mind, and his voice gradually became lower and lower until it turned into silence. His thoughts began to rise, gradually detaching from reality.
Meditation seemed to take away time. Thomas explored the maze in his heart. Suddenly, his surroundings became blurry and real. He saw a light, bright and warm, like a symbol of hope. He wanted to reach out and touch it, but the light kept flickering, as if refusing.
"Thomas, are you okay?" Emma called softly, but her voice seemed to be covered by the heavy fog and could not reach his ears.
Thomas' heartbeat gradually accelerated, and his consciousness gradually blurred. He knew the power of meditation, and he was wandering in it, whether it was good or bad. The sudden fear made him want to return to reality, but his body seemed to be out of control.
"Emma!" Thomas called out in his heart, but could only wander in the darkness. He seemed to see countless images of himself, some in pain, some confused, as if his past self was laughing at him.
At this time, Emma finally felt something was wrong. She stared at Thomas' face with a serious look. She gently shook his shoulders: "Thomas, come out quickly! I need you to come back!"
In the darkness, Thomas suddenly remembered Emma's concern, and his will became stronger with this thought. He struggled desperately, trying to break free from the lingering phantoms and rushed towards Emma's voice.
Finally, a bright light flashed by, and Thomas's consciousness seemed to be pulled back to reality by a force. He opened his eyes and found that he was still sitting on the grass, and everything around him was swaying slightly.
"You're awake!" Emma was pleasantly surprised and held his hand tightly. "You made me very worried just now."
"I... I feel like I'm having a nightmare." Thomas gasped, his heart still pounding. "Those images, those painful memories, I seem to see all my fears."
“Meditation is powerful,” Emma said, her eyes showing understanding, “but it’s also dangerous. We must be careful.”
Thomas nodded and looked up at the starry sky, feeling mixed emotions. In this process, he not only gained a deeper understanding of his inner self, but also realized that the power of meditation is not only powerful, but sometimes it is also an unbearable burden.
"We need to organize the contents of our notes." Thomas tried to calm himself down. "We can't just try this knowledge casually. We have to study it thoroughly."
"I agree," Emma responded, a gleam of reason in her eyes. "The most urgent thing is to find out how to meditate safely so as not to fall into that kind of pain again. Also, I want to understand if these images are caused by past trauma."
Thomas was slightly stunned, and a trace of regret surged in his heart. He suddenly realized that Emma was not only a researcher, but also his spiritual support. She could not only help him analyze, but also guide him to find the direction.
"We can work together and face these images together," Thomas decided. "I will share my feelings and experiences with you, which may help us understand this meditation method more deeply."
"That's a good idea." Emma nodded in agreement, feeling relieved. "Only if we fight side by side can we find out the true meaning."
As the two of them talked, a warm atmosphere gradually spread in the open space. Although the experience of meditation left a shadow in their hearts, this resonance also made them feel at ease.
"Next, we need to look for more information," Thomas said, his eyes full of determination. "We can start with the meditation methods in history and legends to find more clues."
"There's another place I want to go." Emma's eyes sparkled. "There's an old Taoist priest in town who is very proficient in meditation and soul research. Maybe he can help us answer some questions."
