Hogwarts's Master of Mind
Chapter 56: Visit, Strange Town
The Greengrass family went to organize their staff, which gave Aiden some rare free time.
Aiden, who had some free time, began to study new spells, and his life was peaceful and stable.
In the second week of July, a letter broke the silence.
The sky was gray and gloomy, and the clouds were so thick that they seemed to be pressing down. Accompanied by strong winds, a black owl flew to the Prewett mansion with a letter.
Aiden took the letter and read it carefully.
"Dear Aiden, Zhan Xinjia, I recently followed my father to our family's original hometown.
I seem to have seen an ancient church in my dreams often recently, and it feels like good luck is about to come.
My father was worried that I would be alone here without knowing anyone, so he agreed to let me invite you here as guests.
So, I wrote to all three of you separately. It seems that Edmund and Ethan are both busy. I wonder if you can come and visit us.
If you plan to come, please write a reply letter. Oh, and the address is in the two-story building with a quaint spire in the small town of Kingsport, Devon, New England."
Coincidentally, the development of the combination of abilities and magic has reached a bottleneck recently.
After receiving Oliver's invitation, Aiden was so restless that he decided to go out and relax.
So Aiden wrote a reply, accepting Oliver's invitation, and also sent a message to Aunt Molly, informing her that he was going to visit his classmate's house for a while.
Aiden walked to the open space, took off his shirt, and cast a Disillusionment Charm on himself.
It spread its wings and flew up, heading in the direction of the shining Aldebaran.
Ever since Aiden was able to fly, he has loved using his wings to fly. Perhaps it is the dragon's unique senses at work, but Aiden does not like transportation very much.
Finally, Aiden flew to the ancient town by the sea, and Kingsport covered in rain appeared before his eyes at dusk.
In the weathered town of Kingsport, the old weather vanes, spires, roof beams, chimneys, docks, bridges, willow trees, and cemeteries are all visible.
The steep, narrow, winding streets form an endless maze, and a dazzling church that seems to have never been eroded by time stands on a hill in the center of the maze.
The ancient Miskatonic River runs through the town of Kingsport, winding its way into the Atlantic Ocean.
Aiden flapped his wings and flew over the cemetery, looking for the small building that Oliver had described.
After finding the target, Aiden folded his wings and landed in front of the small building.
The small building has basically remained in its ancient state. The second floor of the house is overgrown with weeds, which have grown all the way to the street and connected with the weeds growing on the second floor opposite.
Aiden stood in front of the door of the small building and knocked.
"Who is it?" Oliver's voice came from inside the house.
"It's me, Aiden." Aiden revealed his identity.
The door of the small building was opened. Oliver poked his head out and smiled when he saw Aiden.
"Welcome, Aiden." Oliver pulled Aiden into the room.
Inside, a low room lit by candlelight, with heavy rafters hanging from the ceiling, was filled with only a few pieces of dark, sturdy 17th-century furniture.
There was a fire burning in the fireplace in the room, and the warm firelight dispelled the cold brought by the rain.
A well-dressed man with slightly sunken eyes sat by the fire, smiling at Aiden.
"Aiden, let me introduce you, this is my father, Clint Graves. Dad, this is my classmate, Aiden Prewett."
Oliver was very happy that his classmates came to visit, so he introduced them happily.
"Hello, Mr. Graves, it's an honor to be here at Oliver's invitation." Aiden greeted.
"Welcome, Mr. Prewett. Since you are Oliver's classmate, you can treat this place as your home." Klinl greeted warmly.
Then Oliver pulled Aiden up to the second floor.
Although there was some grass growing outside the wall of the second floor, the house was still very clean.
"Aiden, you can stay in this room. My father and I cleaned it. It could have been solved with a spell, but my father insisted on cleaning it by hand."
Oliver turned his head and looked at Aiden, with a question mark on his forehead.
"Aiden, where's your luggage?"
Aiden smiled and pretended to be mysterious: "You will know when you wait."
Aiden stretched out his hand, and a silver ball of light emerged from the palm of his hand. The ball of light slowly expanded and turned into a box.
Open the box and you will see a spiral staircase inside, through which you can see many daily necessities within the limited field of vision.
"Here, look, it's all in there," Aiden boasted.
"Cool, I want one too." Oliver said enviously.
"Okay, I'll make one for you later. You provide the raw materials and I won't charge you any processing fees." Aiden waved his hand.
So with Oliver's help, Aiden decorated the room.
At noon, Aiden had lunch with Oliver's family. Although there were only three of them, four seats and tableware were prepared.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was thick and heavy, and Aiden finished his lunch in this strange atmosphere.
After dinner, Oliver took Aiden to visit his ancestral home. Aiden couldn't help but ask,
"Oliver, excuse me, where is your mother?"
Oliver's eyes dimmed after hearing this.
"My mother died not long after I was born. My father loved her very much."
"I'm sorry." Aiden didn't know what to say.
At this time, the rain outside gradually stopped, and Oliver decided to take Aiden out for a walk.
The two walked along the incredibly ancient town's crisscrossing roads that looked like a fishing net, with many residents walking along the roads.
The faces of these residents often look a little old, and their skin has a rough texture due to years of erosion by sea breeze, as if it were rock carved by time.
Their steps were calm and rhythmic, as regular as the tides, and they moved stiffly and slowly through the narrow streets, carrying fishing nets or baskets filled with fresh seafood.
"Oliver, do you feel that the way the residents here walk is strange?" Aiden asked with a frown.
"What's wrong? There's nothing wrong." Oliver was a little surprised.
"The residents here are quite friendly. When my father and I first arrived here, they gave us fresh sea fish."
“But I always feel that there is something wrong with their actions,” Aiden said.
"Oh, you are from the wizarding world. The residents here have lived by the sea for a long time. The climate here is hot and humid, and they often eat seafood. Naturally, they are prone to diseases such as arthritis and gout."
Oliver looked like you were making a fuss.
"But we don't have to worry about that. We're only staying here for a short while, and your wizards' healing methods are very advanced."
"Also, there will be a celebration here in a few days, and it is said that a political figure will come to visit the celebration." Oliver raised his eyebrows at Aiden.
"Oh~, a politician, who is it?" Aiden felt very curious.
"Shh, I'm telling you in secret, my father is an employee of the current British government. In this year's general election, the Conservative Party defeated the Labour Party, and the leader of the Labour Party resigned (Note 1).
Now he is running around, preparing to use his final political career to try to recover the losses for the Labour Party."
Oliver talked to Aiden with a gossipy look on his face.
