Hogwarts Lion Girl

Chapter 109 Girls' Night Talk

At dinner time, the hall was filled with the aroma of roast chicken and pumpkin pie, but Ginny was acting out of character. She did not excitedly pull Serena aside to discuss which Quidditch player had a new injury or which professor had a slug on his robe during class today. Instead, she held her cheek with her hand and looked at the glass of amber pumpkin juice in front of her with a dazed look, her thoughts having already drifted away.

"Hey, Ginny, where were you daydreaming about? Did you receive a love letter?" Serena said with a sly smile and poked Ginny's arm with her elbow. Ginny's body trembled slightly, as if she was suddenly awakened.

She hurriedly put down the glass of pumpkin juice that was almost overflowing. A few drops of amber liquid splashed on the tablecloth, flashing tiny lights under the flickering candlelight.

"No, no!" Ginny suddenly came back to her senses, her cheeks turned red in an instant as if under a spell. Her eyes were wandering, and she didn't dare to look directly into Salina's inquiring gaze, but she couldn't hide the sweet curve at the corner of her mouth.

Salina saw Ginny's reaction clearly. She put down the silver knife in her hand, leaned forward slightly, supported her cheek, raised her eyebrows, and had an expression that said "I've seen through you a long time ago". However, she did not continue to ask questions. She just smiled meaningfully. There was a bit of ridicule, a bit of mischief, and a bit of tacit understanding in that smile that only sisters could understand.

When Ginny returned to the dormitory at night, she immediately ran to the mirror. The dormitory was filled with the scent of lavender, mixed with the faint scent of ink from parchment.

She took a deep breath and practiced smiling in front of the mirror over and over again, sometimes pursing her lips, sometimes showing her teeth, her eyes shining, and the curve of the corners of her mouth was as sweet as honey.

She seemed to see her cheeks in the mirror blushing and her heart beating like a snare drum, just like a little squirrel that had stolen honey.

Salina couldn't help but raise the corner of her mouth. She tiptoed behind Ginny, leaned against the door, crossed her arms, looked at Ginny's intoxicated look, and joked: "My God, Ginny, what are you doing? Are you planning to participate in a smile contest?"

"Selina! Why didn't you make any sound? I was scared to death!" Ginny's heart seemed to jump out of her throat. She turned around in panic, and the ivory comb in her hand fell to the floor with a crisp "pop" sound, which seemed particularly abrupt in the quiet dormitory.

Ginny could feel her cheeks burning. She glared at Serena in reproach, with a hint of embarrassment in her eyes, but more of it was the panic that could not be concealed.

She bent down, and her slender fingers touched the cool, smooth comb. The ivory-white sheen set off her now red fingertips, making her look even more uneasy.

She picked up the comb and tried to hide her embarrassment by fixing her hair, but her heart couldn't calm down for a long time.

"My dear Ginny, dare you say that you are not practicing how to smile to your sweetheart?" Salina couldn't help laughing. She took a few steps to Ginny's side, and the lavender fragrance in the air rippled gently as she walked.

"Tell me the truth, has that silly boy Neville Longbottom finally come to his senses?" Serena said, stretching out her right hand and hugging Ginny's shoulders, her tone full of teasing.

Ginny's cheeks turned even redder, like ripe apples. She lowered her head shyly, and her golden hair fell from her ears, covering her red ears.

She did not deny it, but lowered her head and muttered softly: "No way, don't talk nonsense..."

"You're still saying no, but look at how shy you are!" Salina couldn't help but scratched Ginny's nose with her hand. "Tell me, what did Neville do to you? What happened after the Herbology class this afternoon?"

Seeing Ginny's evasive gaze, she raised her lips even more. She leaned forward slightly, staring at Ginny with burning eyes, as if she wanted to see through her. She tapped Ginny's arm with her left hand from time to time and continued to ask, "Tell me, tell me!"

Under Serena's continuous questioning, Ginny was defeated step by step, and finally couldn't resist Serena's curiosity. She took a deep breath, as if she had made some important decision, and slowly told the whole story of her encounter with Neville in the afternoon.

"He said my eyes were as bright as stars," Ginny paused here, as if she could still recall Neville's shy and passionate eyes when he looked at her at that time, "and he said my smile was more beautiful than any flower he had ever seen..."

She lowered her head, her voice was as soft as a mosquito's, but her cheeks were flushed, like a rose bud about to bloom.

Salina noticed that the dimples at the corners of Ginny's mouth seemed to be filled with honey, and her eyes and eyebrows were filled with happiness. She couldn't help but joked, "Wow, I didn't expect Neville to be such a talker!"

Salina pretended to be surprised, which made Ginny grumble.

Salina and Ginny were talking animatedly, and several girls at the other end of the dormitory were attracted by their laughter. They put down their potions textbooks and quills and joined the discussion about Neville Longbottom. They talked about everything from his confused personality that always made him forget spells to his amazing talent in Herbology. The dormitory in the tower was filled with laughter.

"Ginny, you really found a treasure," Patty came over with envy and winked at Ginny, "Although Neville looks stupid, he is actually a very nice person."

She deliberately lowered her voice and said mysteriously, "I accidentally made a mistake in the nettle recipe last time, and it was Neville who helped me to re-mix it. He also taught me how to distinguish the characteristics of various herbs."

Patty couldn't help but sigh when she said this, "And his knowledge of herbs is so great that even Professor Sprout is amazed!"

"Yes, yes," Lavender also put down her quill and joined the discussion with interest, "and Neville is very brave."

The girls, still unsatisfied, began to discuss other boys in the school. From Cedric from Hufflepuff to Michael from Ravenclaw, the girls spoke enthusiastically about each boy, and laughter filled the entire dormitory.

"If you ask me, Cedric is still the most handsome. He looks like a prince who walked out of a painting!" Lavender held her chin with both hands and said with an infatuated look on her face.

"Come on, Cedric is good, but he's a bit of a popular guy. And I heard he's a bit conceited. Michael is better. He's gentle, handsome, and smart..."

The dark blue velvet curtain outside the window was dotted with stars, sparkling with a hazy light like broken diamonds.

A full moon hangs high in the night sky, and the silver moonlight pours down, covering the earth with a veil.

The girls' night talk is gradually coming to an end...
