Chapter 290 The tension and anxiety of the situation
"I hope everything we find is meaningful." Lin Nan took a deep breath. Their mission was crucial and required care and caution.
The two walked to the door of the house and Lin Nan knocked. The door slowly opened, revealing a friendly middle-aged man, his eyes full of confusion and curiosity.
"Hello, what can I do for you?" the middle-aged man asked politely.
Lin Nan smiled and said, "We are here to look for some key information. Perhaps you can help us."
The middle-aged man frowned slightly. He was obviously a little wary of the two strangers who suddenly appeared. "Key information? I don't quite understand what you are talking about."
Natasha walked over to Lin Nan, took out a note and handed it to the man, "We have an address, it seems this is an important contact point."
The man took the note and read the contents carefully. His expression became more serious, and he obviously realized the importance of this matter. "Please follow me." He turned and walked into the house.
Lin Nan and Natasha followed the man through a simple but tidy corridor and came to a quiet little living room. The walls of the living room were covered with family photos and artworks, which seemed full of warmth and stories of life.
The man pointed to the sofa and said, "Please take a seat." After the three of them sat down, he continued, "I know the information you are looking for. This is a dangerous clue. Are you sure you want to follow it?"
Lin Nan nodded, "We must find the answer, no matter how dangerous it is."
Natasha looked into the man's eyes. She understood that their mission was not easy, but she also knew that only by facing it bravely could they uncover the truth hidden in the darkness.
In this ordinary civilian residence, their mission becomes more realistic and specific, and they need not only courage, but also wisdom and determination to ensure that their actions do not bring irreversible consequences.
Lin Nan and Natasha sat down in the living room of the ordinary house. They knew that there might be important clues hidden here, and they also needed to find a solution to charge the time controller. After they sat down, the middle-aged man looked at them with a serious look.
"I know the information you're looking for. This is indeed a dangerous clue." The man said, "Are you sure you want to follow it?"
Lin Nan nodded and answered firmly: "Yes, we must find the answer."
Natasha added: "We need to find a way to recharge the time controller as soon as possible in order to complete our mission."
The man was silent for a moment, then nodded, motioning for them to follow him to find a possible solution.
They walked through the living room and into a smaller room that was cluttered with old electronics and tools. The man began searching, hoping to find something that would suit their needs.
"I don't have any particularly advanced equipment, but maybe I can find some old batteries or chargers," the man said as he searched.
Lin Nan started to help with the search, checking every possible corner and drawer, and soon he found an old charger and a few batteries, not the most modern technology, but probably enough for the situation.
"These may be of some help." Lin Nan took the found items to the table and began to check their working condition.
Natasha also found some old electronic devices and she began to check whether they had enough power or could be modified to suit the needs of the Time Controller.
"It looks like the best option we can find," Natasha said, a hint of hope and determination in her tone.
The man watched them work, clearly impressed by the pair's skills and determination. "You look very professional, I hope this stuff helps."
Lin Nan nodded in thanks, and then continued to concentrate on debugging and preparing the found equipment and batteries. They knew that time was running out, and they had to find an effective charging solution as soon as possible to ensure that the time controller could continue to operate and complete their mission.
When Lin Nan and Natasha were looking for a solution to charge the time controller in an ordinary house, they suddenly heard footsteps and hurried shouts from behind. They turned around and saw an old woman holding a weapon that looked like a household tool and walking towards them in a hurry.
"What are you doing? Get out of here!" The old woman's voice was warning and unquestionable, and her eyes flashed with vigilance and distrust.
Lin Nan tried to explain: "I'm sorry, we are just looking for some energy to charge, we won't cause any trouble."
Natasha also quickly added: "We have no ill intentions, we are just looking for some old electronic equipment to help us in our mission."
The old woman heard their explanation but remained alert. She did not put down her weapon. "I don't know what you are talking about, but you can't stay here."
Lin Nan and Natasha exchanged glances. They understood that the old woman might be worried about their presence or afraid that they would bring danger. In the eyes of this stranger, they might just be strangers who suddenly broke into her life, bringing uneasiness and doubt.
“We don’t want to scare you,” Lin Nan said, trying to remain calm and understanding, “but we really need these things.”
The old woman obviously did not intend to listen to their explanation, and she suddenly waved her hand and slammed the door shut. Then she locked it from the inside, obviously to prevent them from entering again.
"Sorry, you have to leave!" The old woman's voice revealed a firm and uncompromising determination.
Lin Nan and Natasha looked at each other, knowing that now was not the time to argue. Although the resources they needed seemed to be right in front of them, the old woman's refusal told them that continuing to stay would only increase the tension and anxiety of the situation.
"Okay, let's go." Lin Nan finally decided to accept the reality that they had no right to break into other people's homes.
They slowly turned and walked away, their footsteps echoing on the path outside the house. Although they did not get what they needed, the experience made them understand how important it is to understand and respect the feelings of the locals in an unknown environment.
"We have to find other ways." Natasha whispered, with a hint of disappointment in her eyes, but she was not discouraged.
Lin Nan nodded, "Yes, we can't stop."
Lin Nan and Natasha left the house and were forcefully driven out by the old woman. They stood on the street, their hearts filled with confusion and bewilderment about what they had just experienced.
