Siheyuan: Sap is the last word
Chapter 712 He Yudong
Neighbors came over after hearing the news, and they were all happy for He Yudong. Qin Huairu smiled and said, "Brother He Yudong, I knew you could do it!"
Liu Haizhong patted He Yudong on the shoulder and said, "Brother He Yudong, congratulations! You are the pride of our factory!"
Although Yan Bugui was somewhat reluctant, he had to acknowledge He Yudong's efforts: "He Yudong, congratulations!"
He Yudong looked at everyone with gratitude: "Thank you for your support and encouragement. Without you, I can achieve what I have today."
He Yudong successfully got into university, but He Yushui, a normal high school student in the school, failed and cursed He Yudong.
After the news that He Yudong was successfully admitted to the university spread, the atmosphere in the courtyard became particularly festive and lively. Neighbors came to congratulate him, some brought gifts, and some patted him on the shoulder and said "good job". Qin Huairu and Jia Dongxu were even more happy to invite He Yudong to a sumptuous dinner, hoping that he could celebrate this important moment well.
However, not everyone is excited about He Yudong's success. While He Yudong is embarking on a new stage in his life, another young man in the yard, He Yushui, who is a normal high school student, is resentful and jealous because of his failure in the exam.
He Yushui was originally a student with good grades and a cheerful personality. But after he found out that He Yudong was admitted to university while he failed, his mentality changed dramatically. He began to become angry and inferior, especially when he saw He Yudong in the yard or heard neighbors mention He Yudong, his heart was filled with nameless anger and resentment.
One evening, He Yudong returned home at one o'clock in the evening. He packed his schoolbag and prepared to start a new day of study. Xiao Hei was lying quietly beside him. When he saw He Yudong coming back, he twisted his tail to welcome him. He Yudong was about to enter the house when he heard a fierce quarrel in the yard.
"He Yudong, you're a loser! How did you get into university? People like you don't deserve it!" He Yushui's voice was filled with anger and jealousy.
He Yudong stopped and realized what had happened. He walked out of the house and saw He Yushui standing in the middle of the yard, glaring at him, and the neighbors were watching. Qin Huairu and Jia Dongxu were also standing nearby, their faces full of worry and confusion.
When He Yushui saw He Yudong appear, he pointed at him and said loudly, "Do you think you are great just because you got into college? How can a loser like you compare to me?!"
He Yudong took a deep breath and tried to stay calm: "Yushui, don't be like this."
He Yushui ignored him and continued to question loudly: "Tell me, how did you get in?! By connections? Or some other means?!"
The neighbors around started to talk about it. Some wanted to stop He Yushui, while others were wondering if He Yudong's grades were really that good. Jia Dongxu couldn't help but stepped forward and stopped He Yushui from talking: "Yushui, you are so rude. He Yudong was able to get into college because of his own hard work. You should congratulate him."
He Yushui was unmoved and looked at He Yudong angrily: "I don't believe it. I absolutely don't believe that you can get into college through your own efforts!"
He Yudong felt the jealousy and dissatisfaction in He Yushui's words, and felt bitter. He didn't want to conflict with He Yushui, but facing such an attack, he also felt helpless and wronged. He looked at He Yushui, and said calmly and firmly: "Yushui, I know you are very frustrated now, but please don't vent your emotions on others. Everyone has a different path, and I believe you will find your own opportunities."
After hearing what He Yudong said, He Yushui's eyes flashed with a complicated look, but it was soon replaced by anger: "I don't need your comfort! You are just a coward who can only rely on others' protection!"
Hearing He Yushui's direct attack, He Yudong felt extremely painful and wronged. He did not expect that his success would trigger negative emotions and jealousy among his neighbors. Qin Huairu could not help but step forward and gently persuaded: "Yushui, calm down. Don't forget that you were good friends before."
He Yushui didn't listen to the advice at all. His emotions were out of control. "Aunt Qin, I don't want to listen to this nonsense! He Yudong is just a lucky guy. He can't be better than me!"
At this time, other neighbors in the yard also came out to stop the quarrel. Some advised He Yushui to calm down, and some comforted He Yudong. The whole yard was filled with an awkward and tense atmosphere, and everyone was worried that the quarrel would escalate further.
He Yudong was silent for a moment, and finally said: "Yushui, I know you are in a bad mood now. I don't want to argue with you, nor do I want to make you sad. If you need help or want to talk, I can accompany you at any time."
After hearing what He Yudong said, He Yushui's expression was a little distorted. He suddenly turned around and left, running back to his house without saying a word. The atmosphere in the yard eased a little, but He Yudong's doubts and uneasiness became more and more intense.
That night, He Yudong sat in his room, his heart filled with mixed emotions. He had thought that his success would bring congratulations and support from his neighbors, but he did not expect it to cause such controversy and jealousy. It was difficult for him to understand why He Yushui spoke so harshly to him, but he felt more helpless and heartbroken.
Xiao Hei came over and leaned against He Yudong's legs, as if comforting his master. He Yudong gently stroked its head, and his heart gradually calmed down. He decided not to care about He Yushui's words, but to continue to focus on his studies and life.
A few days later, He Yushui seemed to realize his own misconduct and began to avoid He Yudong and other neighbors. The atmosphere in the yard slowly returned to calm, but He Yudong's doubts and uneasiness remained. He understood that the world is not always beautiful and fair, and sometimes success will trigger the jealousy and dissatisfaction of others.
He Yudong carefully lifted the wooden board, revealing a dark hole. He lit a candle and jumped down. The tunnel was narrow and damp, with moss on the walls and some rotten wood chips and rags scattered on the ground. He Yudong walked slowly in the tunnel, his heartbeat gradually accelerated, and expectation and fear intertwined in his heart.
After walking for about 20 minutes, the tunnel suddenly widened and a small basement appeared in front of He Yudong. There were some old furniture and sundries on the ground, and there was an old box in the corner. He Yudong brought the candle closer and tried to see the lock on the box. At this moment, a pair of eyes flashing green light appeared in the darkness. He Yudong was startled and almost dropped the candle in his hand.
"Who!" He Yudong shouted in a low voice, his voice echoing in the tunnel.
The pair of green eyes moved slowly, and a black cat walked out of the shadows and jumped lightly onto the box. Its eyes seemed to have some kind of wisdom, staring at He Yudong, as if examining his intentions.
"Cat? How could there be a cat?" He Yudong muttered to himself, then felt relieved and continued to observe the black cat.
The black cat sat on the box leisurely, wagging its tail gently, seemingly not paying any attention to He Yudong's arrival. He Yudong took a few steps closer and reached out to touch the rusty lock, only to find that it had been opened. He twisted it hard, and the lock opened with a sound, and the lid of the box also loosened.
He Yudong took a deep breath and opened the box. It was filled with all kinds of old items: old-fashioned porcelain, bronze mirrors, and some exquisite jewelry. His eyes lit up immediately. These things were obviously antiques of some age and worth a fortune.
"I've made it, I've made it this time!" He Yudong was overjoyed and was about to take out the treasures from the box one by one, but he heard a slight sound of footsteps behind him.
He turned around quickly, but saw nothing. The tunnel was still silent, with only the black cat sitting there quietly, its eyes still cold. He Yudong frowned, picked up a few of the most valuable antiques, stuffed them into his arms, and then quickly left the tunnel.
Back at the courtyard, He Yudong carefully covered the wooden board again and pretended that nothing had happened. However, he was secretly thinking about how to cash in these treasures to improve the lives of himself and his family.
The next morning, He Yudong got up early and planned to go to a trusted friend to discuss these treasures. However, as soon as he went out, he met Qin Huairu who lived next door.
"He Yudong, what were you busy with when you came back so late last night?" Qin Huairu asked with a smile. She was a warm-hearted person and usually took good care of her neighbors.
"Nothing, just going out for a walk." He Yudong said perfunctorily, not wanting others to know that he had discovered the tunnel.
Qin Huairu nodded and continued, "I heard recently that there are some unclean things in the yard. You should be careful when you go out at night."
He Yudong was shocked, but pretended to be calm, "What did you say?"
"I heard that someone saw a dark shadow swaying in the yard, like it was something." Qin Huairu said mysteriously.
He Yudong was secretly alert in his heart. It seemed that the secrets of the underground could not be known to anyone. He hurriedly said goodbye to Qin Huairu and went straight to an antique shop in the city, intending to ask the owner of the shop how much these treasures were worth.
The owner of the antique shop, Liu Haizhong, was an old man in his fifties who was proficient in antique appraisal. He Yudong handed him several antiques taken out from the tunnel. Liu Haizhong picked up a piece of porcelain, looked at it carefully for a while, and his face suddenly became solemn.
"He Yudong, where did you get this?" Liu Haizhong asked in a low voice, with a hint of vigilance in his eyes.
"A friend gave it to me. What's wrong with that, Lao Liu?" He Yudong's heart tightened and he made up an excuse.
"This thing is not an ordinary antique. I'm afraid it came from an illegitimate source." Liu Haizhong put down the porcelain and looked at He Yudong deeply. "You'd better not take action rashly, or you will get into trouble."
