an hour later

Jiang Ci walked out of the room with an indifferent expression. His face was a little gloomy and it was obvious that he was not in a good mood.

Yan Shu and Xiao Yan had been waiting in the next room. After hearing the noise, they walked out of the room together.

Yan Shu looked at Jiang Ci who was walking towards her, and sensitively noticed that Jiang Ci looked unhappy: "You don't look very well, but did the master say something bad to you?"

Jiang Ci's lips curled up slightly, and he chuckled, "It's nothing. The master is a hermit. Although he is out of touch with the world, he can see through the world's major events. I had such an opportunity, so I asked him for more advice. However, some of the master's words were quite obscure and profound and needed to be repeatedly considered. When I walked out just now, my mind was all on this, and I was a little distracted for a while."

Yan Shu felt relieved only after hearing Jiang Ci's explanation.

Xiao Yan took a step forward and said to Jiang Ci and Yan Shu, "Your Highness, Miss Yan, it's getting late. The Zhaiyuan has prepared dinner for you. Let's go and have dinner together."

Jiang Ci looked at Yan Shu with his gentle eyes and said, "Let's go. We'll come back to see Third Brother Yan tomorrow morning."

Yan Shu nodded: "Yes."

After returning to the temple, Jiang Ci, Yan Shu and Xiao Yan had dinner together. Afterwards, Yan Shu went back to his room to rest, while Jiang Ci and Xiao Yan went into a Zen room to chant scriptures. Ying Qi and Qing Yun were guarding the door strictly. It was unknown what the two talked about in the room. After a full hour and a half, Xiao Yan got up and left.

The next day, the sky was just beginning to brighten.

Yan Shu was awakened by a knock on the door. She suddenly opened her eyes, took a look at the simple room and the big Buddhist characters on the wall, and then she gradually remembered where she was.

"Miss Yan, Third Brother Yan is awake!"

Ying Qi's excited voice came from outside the door, and Yan Shu sat up suddenly in surprise.

"Come here."

She threw back the quilt and got out of bed swiftly, put on a lotus pink cloak, quickly opened the door and ran out. Jiang Ci was standing in the yard at the moment, and when he heard the noise he looked over.

The girl in front of me had waist-length hair, which fell in front of her body due to her fast running. Her dark eyes were sleepy and naive, like a fawn that had lost its way in the dense forest, silly and stupid, yet exuding a pure aura.

"Sister-in-law, are you planning to go out like this?"

Yan Shu looked down at herself. She had not taken off her outer clothes when she went to bed last night. Her clothes were wrinkled after sleeping in the quilt all night. She was so anxious to go see her third brother that she forgot that there were many etiquette restrictions for women in ancient times. It was indeed very indecent to walk in the temple like this.

"Wait a moment, I'll go in and freshen up."

Jiang Ci instructed Ying Si who was following behind him, "Go and prepare some warm water."

"Yes!"

Ying Si immediately went downstairs to prepare, while Jiang Ci followed Yan Shu into the house.

Yan Shu took out a comb from his bag and was about to trim his long hair, but the comb in his hand was taken away by someone.

"There is no dressing box in the room. It is difficult for you to take care of it yourself. Let me do it."

Before Yan Shu could speak, Jiang Ci had already pressed her down on the stool in front of him, and he stood behind her and began to help her take care of her long hair.

In just a few moments, Yan Shu's long hair was neatly tied up. Jiang Ci picked up the silver hairpin that Yan Shu often wore from the table and fixed the bun, and also inserted two velvet flowers on both sides of the bun.

He noticed that Yan Shu always dressed simply and elegantly, rarely wearing pearls and jade hairpins on her head. But even with just an ordinary velvet flower pinned in her hair, she looked brighter and more attractive than those with hair full of pearls and jade.

Yan Shu touched his hair in surprise and said, "When did you learn this? It's better than mine."

Jiang Ci smiled and explained, "When Aunt Jiang was alive, her eyesight wasn't very good. Whenever I had free time at home, I would help her tie her hair. Over time, I learned a few tricks."
