days at Hogwarts

Chapter 675 Slughorn's Christmas Party

After the holidays, the corridors and aisles became spacious, professors rarely showed up, and the castle hall and common room became the territory of the students who stayed on campus. There was no need to fight for the most comfortable armchairs by the fire. Every night, Harry and Ron could be seen sitting there, poking all kinds of food with toasting forks and putting them into the fireplace.

Honestly, the presentation was pretty bad.

Their grilling skills were not even as good as Grawp's. The bread was smoked black and the mushrooms were completely wilted, not to mention the steaks that were not marinated or greased, half-cooked and covered with ash.

But they didn't care about the taste and enjoyed the meal quite a lot.

The rule that no spells can be cast in the corridor has become a decoration. Beautiful bluebell flames as soft as silk are floating everywhere. I don't know who found the warning magic from the Goblet of Fire from somewhere. After nightfall, you can often see sparks of various colors rising in the courtyard, like fireworks.

I don't know if it was because Dumbledore said hello, but the administrator, Mr. Filch, didn't do much to discipline him. Sometimes he could be seen standing in the corridor with Mrs. Norris watching the fireworks.

Brilliant spots of light exploded in the cat's clear eyes, like stars.

December 12th, evening, Gryffindor common room.

The room was not as noisy as usual. No one played Goblin Stones and Exploding Cards, which could easily stain clothes. The boys combed their hair like adults, put on handsome suits, and sat on the sofa with their backs straight.

They pretended to be casual and chatted about serious and profound topics: how to easily and effectively change the color of eyebrows in human body deformation, what preparations should be made to sign up for Apparition, and what astrology predicted according to Professor Firenze's divination...

Seeing their eyes glancing up the stairs from time to time with absent-minded looks, Loren, who was sitting on the single sofa, snorted coldly, "You are all more pretentious than me."

He looked at the hands of the clock on the wall, then at the quiet corridor upstairs. Just as he was muttering to himself how could it be so slow, the sound of high heels tapping on the wooden floor upstairs came.

Looking in the direction of the voice, a beautiful figure appeared in my sight.

The girl walked down the stairs gradually, dragging her skirt. She stopped a few steps above the ground, looked at the man at the bottom of the stairs, and gave him a charming smile.

The hem of her skirt covered her lower body and also concealed her heels which were shaking slightly due to her unsteady standing.

It is not a very formal dress, but it is more gorgeous than everyday clothes. The outer lining of the upper body is made of burgundy velvet, and it is tied into a bow on the chest, which makes the neck look whiter than snow and the waist look slender. There are a few strings of small flowers embroidered on the side, and the off-white puff sleeves add a bit of sweetness and agility. The hem of the skirt is made of multiple pieces of lace and decorated with tulip patterns.

The boys in the lounge couldn't help but look over here.

Hermione only had eyes for the man in front of her. She curled up her lips into a smile and stretched out her right hand towards him in a coquettish manner. Her arm was white and slender, and seemed to be glowing.

Loren gently held the hand and led the girl down the stairs steadily.

After standing firmly on the ground, the girl took his arm and leaned half of her body on him, her smile becoming more intense and her eyes full of smiles.

"The heels you chose are too high."

"Damn it, the skirt is too long, I can't even see my feet."

"..."

"I need to find a place to see it clearly after the party."

"what are you talking about!"

Hermione was so angry that she laughed and couldn't help but punched him on the arm.

The two of them walked away muttering to each other, their backs disappearing into the portrait hole, leaving behind a group of even more anxious boys. Their eyes looking towards the girls' dormitory seemed to contain a piercing spell, and they wished they could blow up the wall that was in the way.

……

The two walked arm in arm down the stairs toward Professor Slughorn's office.

The already luxuriously furnished office was further decorated. The traceless extension spell expanded the area to almost the size of an auditorium. Emerald green, crimson and gold curtains were hung on the walls, and a dazzling crystal lamp was hung in the center of the ceiling. Elves and fairies seemed to be flickering and dancing in the lampshade, and the soft light conveyed a cozy warmth.

Singing accompanied by mandolin echoed in the room, and house-elves moved among the people, carrying heavy silver trays that looked like roaming small tables.

Slughorn not only invited students who came to the club, but also some adult wizards from outside the school, all of whom were very prestigious people.

Slughorn was talking to some elderly wizards, with the smoke of his pipe floating around him. When he saw the two men walk in, he greeted them warmly.

"Loren, my child!"

Slughorn spoke loudly, the tassels of his velvet hat swaying, and his big belly shaking, "Come in, come in, I have many friends who want you to meet! Elder Worpple, his friend Bloody..."

"professor……"

Loren immediately decided to betray his roommate and said decisively, "I think Harry would rather meet your friend. He is right in the back. Hermione and I will not go over there. Let's go get something to eat first."

"This one……"

To be fair, Slughorn did favor Harry more.

Although Loren is outstanding, he has not achieved anything yet, so it is not easy to introduce him in front of that group of people. But it is different for Harry, who is famous all over the world while he is still lying in the cradle.

"Well..." Slughorn sighed with mock regret, "My dear boy, you can't imagine how much money you can make..."

"See you later Professor."

"have fun."

The two walked towards the area where the food was placed.

Hermione took his hand, looked at the group of wizards who were smoking together, and whispered, "Eld Worpple is the author of the best-selling book Blood Brothers: My Life Among Vampires. It is said that he has vampire blood."

"More popular than Lockhart's book?"

“It probably can’t compare.”

"What's so good about that?"

"But the guy next to him really seems to be a vampire."

Loren followed her gaze and easily found the vampire Sani who was surrounded by a group of girls. He was tall and thin, with unhealthy pale skin, even paler than Voldemort's. The dark blue color under his eyes was very obvious, and he looked sick and listless.

The magic power in Xue Ni's body is light red, as weak and thin as his body, even weaker than that of some sixth-grade students.

Xue Ni, who was not far away, gave the girl's neck a bad look, and was then hit on the head by Elder Wopple, who was much shorter than him.

Different from the mysterious and powerful image of vampires in Muggle movies and TV dramas, vampires in the magical world are only barely mysterious, and their danger level is not even as high as that of Veela. Before the promulgation of the "Guidelines for the Treatment of Non-Wizard Semi-Humans", these dark creatures were regarded as prey by mainstream wizards for a long time and were chased away.

It was only in recent centuries that their situation gradually improved.

Loren retracted his gaze: "There's nothing to see, let's eat first."
