Chapter 618 Career Counseling

The emerald green flames licked the exposed skin, but it was not burning, just slightly warmer than the sun in the summer afternoon. Loren held his breath to prevent himself from inhaling coal ash, waiting for the slight dizziness brought by the spatial shift. The green flames quickly dimmed, and he lowered his head and bent over, then walked out of the furnace.

The headmaster's office still looked familiar. Some of Dumbledore's treasured alchemical items were placed on the oak lattice shelves. The gold-inlaid perch was empty. The phoenix Fawkes preferred to rest in the Sorting Hat. He curled up into a ball of fur with only half of his head exposed, staring at the two old men at the desk, his eyes rolling around.

"...Albus, fire is a violent magic. Only by unleashing it fully can it exert its maximum power." Grindelwald stared, as if trying to convince the other party with his passionate voice.

Dumbledore took a sip of tea and said softly with a smile, "Fire is also the magic of love, life and prosperity. The bluebell flame and the Gubler fairy fire have proved this. Delicate control and clever thinking can often bring out unexpected effects, Gellert."

"I think you have some problems. Everything seems to be related to your magic of love. It's hard to fool lower grade students with this trick." Grindelwald turned and looked at the fireplace. "What do you think of that little guy?"

Loren was stunned for a moment, and vaguely understood that the two were arguing about the underlying principles and application ideas of fire spells. He looked at the two legendary wizards, one was Grindelwald, who almost burned down the whole of Paris with the Fiendfyre, and the other was Dumbledore, who was well versed in fire skills and had both offensive and defensive capabilities.

What qualifications does he have to be a judge in this debate?

Loren blinked: "I think what you said makes sense."

"You've been busy all morning, you must be tired. How about sitting down and having a cup of tea? I also have a gift box of Easter cookies from Honeydukes Candy Shop." Dumbledore looked at Loren and smiled gently.

The headmaster waved his wand to summon a wooden chair and poured the still-warm black tea himself. The chocolate beans on the butter biscuits melted on Loren's tongue, and the rich sweet fragrance spread. He sat side by side with Grindelwald, facing the portraits of former headmasters, and watched as the grumpy old headmaster Black, who had changed his usual puffy and glaring manner, looked at him with a smile.

Dumbledore filled his cup of tea again. "Gellert and I were discussing the principles and commonalities of fire spells. It's not a rigorous academic discussion for two old guys to exchange experiences. What do you think?"

"Not at the moment." Loren didn't think his understanding of magic could catch up with the two old guys.

Dumbledore smiled helplessly and guided him gently, "I know you once released a very strange kind of Fiendfyre, which was milder in temperament, with more concentrated temperature and energy. Can you show it to me?"

"Um...what do you want me to burn, a table, a chair, or a book?"

"These old friends have been with me for decades. I can't bear to burn them." Dumbledore shook his head with a smile on his face. "Just release the flames and show them to us."

"Fine……"

Loren pulled out his wand and exhaled magic power, spraying out a small golden flame that floated in the air and burned quietly. The fluctuations emitted by the soft flame caused the air to slightly distort.

Grindelwald stared into the fire, his expression gradually becoming serious.

Dumbledore observed carefully, his silver beard illuminated by the firelight. He thought silently for a few seconds, then suddenly took out his wand, sprayed out a small flaming flower, and moved towards the golden flame.

The two flames collided with each other and began to tremble slightly at the same time, with the frequency gradually increasing. The light of the golden flame suddenly expanded, rolling up a fireball the size of a head, emitting bright and dazzling light, and then quickly burned out and disappeared in a flash.

"Ouch!"

A few wisps of residual flames splashed on Dumbledore's beard, and he was so scared that he quickly slapped it a few times. After the flames went out, there were some charred residues in the beautiful white beard.

Loren hesitated and didn't say anything, just silently thinking about what had just happened. He always felt that Dumbledore's behavior was a little strange, but when he thought about it carefully, he was Dumbledore after all, so nothing he did was strange.

"It is a very wonderful flame. It is obviously a fierce fire that burns everything, but it is infused with a kind of compassionate love, so that the tyrannical flame becomes docile and gentle..." Dumbledore's tone was full of surprise and admiration. He seemed to be more satisfied with this student and smiled with his eyes narrowed into two slits.

Grindelwald looked at Dumbledore deeply, then looked at Loren, and said slowly: "In the past, wizards usually controlled the Fiendfyre by using Transfiguration or relying on magical suppression. Your method is very clever, Mr. Morgan."

"Really..." Loren answered thoughtfully while holding the teacup, "I haven't fully mastered it yet. The casting speed will be slower than the normal release of Fiendfyre."

"Practice diligently, incorporate some Patronus spellcasting techniques, and pay attention to your emotions when casting."

"Don't use the principle of the fire spell to understand the fierce fire..."

The two legendary wizards' analysis of the principles of fierce fire was easy to understand and even more thorough than that half-baked Flamel's.

Loren vaguely sensed that something seemed to be wrong with the two old men, but in the face of such valuable knowledge, he could only put his doubts aside, absorb their explanations, put aside past questions, and quickly improve his understanding of fire magic.

When it was lunch time, the hourly bell rang from outside the window like a bell for the end of get out of class, and the class ended.

Loren belatedly recalled today's business, and quickly and concisely recounted what happened in the courtroom. He told Dumbledore that he had taken Lucius's little finger, drank the last sip of black tea, turned around and left his seat to say goodbye.

Grindelwald watched his figure disappear behind the wooden door of the headmaster's office, turned his head to look at his old friend, and sighed with a complicated expression: "Is this your choice, Albus?"

Dumbledore was slowly cleaning the burnt hair off his beard, his eyes narrowed into slits, his wrinkles pressed together, his whole face full of smiles.

He recalled the first time he met this student, pretending to greet him like an adult...

Six years have passed in the blink of an eye, and the little guy back then really looks like an adult now.

"Admit it, Gellert, his flames are indeed excellent..."

……

Back in the Gryffindor common room, some students were getting ready to go downstairs for lunch.

Loren greeted Seamus and the others, then went into the portrait hole. He immediately saw Crookshanks lying on the windowsill, stretching his body lazily like a pool of unknown liquid. It seemed that it smelled his scent and raised its persimmon-shaped face to look at him, as if to say hello.

Loren walked over and stroked its fur hard, letting it comb its fur with a resentful look on its face. Then he came to his old seat next to it and glanced at the rune translation homework that Hermione was doing.

Seeing that she had just finished writing the last sentence, Loren stretched out his arms and wrapped them around her waist, raised his chin lazily and put the weight of his head on Hermione's shoulders.

"I am back."

"how is the situation?"

"Minister of Magic?"

Professor McGonagall chuckled. She couldn't tell that Loren had such lofty ambitions. "I haven't noticed this, but I can give you a brief introduction to the experiences of the last few ministers. Scrimgeour came from the Auror Office, and there were some unexpected factors in his promotion. In fact, before that incident, Amelia Bones of the Law Enforcement Department had a greater chance of taking over. Cornelius Fudge used to work in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, and there were also some unexpected factors in his promotion. Before that, the more experienced Barty Crouch was also from the Law Enforcement Department..."

"Ms. Millicent Bagnold maintained basic order in the Ministry of Magic during the First Wizarding War. She took over the position of Minister as Senior Deputy Minister. Earlier, Mr. Harold Minchum was a hardliner..."
