American Comics Reward Order

Chapter 23 One word, drag!

"Your Honor, I am Laura's chief lawyer, Leka Scott!"

Under everyone's gaze, Laika pushed open the court door, swung a large pile of documents, and rushed towards Louis pretending to be out of breath.

There is quite a sense of déjà vu as the savior appears at the last moment.

In fact, he had been hiding outside the door, waiting for Lewis's eyes to come out to the rescue.

Everything is in plan.

"I just bought... and found a leading figure in the archaeological community. She provided irrefutable proof that the ancient tomb has relic value!"

"be opposed to!"

Trevor stood up quickly, "Your honor, according to New York State law, information provided temporarily cannot be used as evidence!"

The judge nodded quickly: "That's true. Any personal or material evidence must be submitted to the court in advance, and the defendant must be notified."

"Sorry, I just found this evidence." Laika threw the information on the plaintiff's bench. "You also know that this kind of evidence is very difficult to find."

Lewis smiled evilly, "And we are not going to violate the law. We only ask for a week's adjournment for both sides to prepare for new evidence."

He never wanted to win, he just wanted to delay.

Recessing the trial for a week before resuming the trial is a standard practice when new evidence emerges and both parties are unwilling to compromise.

The judge accepted the money and of course asked Trevor: "Do you have any objection to the plaintiff's lawyer's proposal?"

Trevor shook his head without hesitation: "No objection."

He really thought that what Laika brought was something powerful that could turn the tide of the war. Of course, he needed time to prepare.

"Okay, the trial will continue in a week. Louis, please hand over your new evidence to my office and the defense lawyer."

"no problem."

"Adjourn!"

After the judge struck the hammer, Louis immediately handed the information that Laika had brought in to Trevor.

Trevor opened it and was stunned.

"...Do you think this is evidence? This piece of crap...is worse than a legend...what a leading archaeologist...is just an internet celebrity."

Trevor sneered, "After the judge sees this information, he will immediately sentence you to contempt of court and fine you. If you dare to do it again, you will be expelled directly."

"Everything you said is right." Lewis blinked, "But these will all happen in a week."

Trevor understood immediately: "Are you stalling for time???"

Lewis raised his eyebrows at Laika, "Hey, Laika, you see how smart they are, you have to learn from them."

Laika looked disgusted: "Come on, I don't want to learn a hair from this guy."

Trevor snorted coldly: "Hmph, just drag it out. Even if you plan to litigate for a year, I will still accompany you. The legal fees Osborne gives me are worth my ten years of income!"

Lewis stared at Osborne for a long time, then suddenly smiled crookedly.

"I understand."

Trevor was slightly startled: "What do you know?"

"You... really don't know what's in that ancient tomb, right?"

Trevor's face turned red as if he had been slapped.

The three plaintiffs looked at each other, and then laughed together in tacit understanding.

"Boss, no wonder he just asked in court what was in the ancient tomb. It turns out that he really didn't know... Osborne didn't tell him."

"Oh, Laika, don't say that. This is the notorious...famous Trevor Tanner. How could he allow his clients to hide something from him?"

Louis and Laika play good cop bad cop again.

And they are becoming more and more tacit.

"It's hard to say. Although Trevor's name is loud and smelly, Norman is louder and smellier than him. Maybe if he gets two more boxes of money, Trevor won't dare to ask."

Laika turned to Trevor, "Yeah, I just said you two are shit."

And, he guessed it right.

Of course Trevor was curious about what was in the tomb and asked Norman about it, but Norman didn't tell him and just threw a whole box of money in front of him.

For the sake of money, Trevor decided not to pursue the matter further. After all, this was just a must-win cultural relic protection lawsuit.

But now seeing the two of them constantly laughing at him, Trevor became angry.

A big taboo of a lawyer is for his clients to hide something from him.

"Just say what you want to say, no need to beat around the bush!"

Laika blinked: "Then I'll tell you directly, you don't have a year to play with us."

"Yes, I kindly remind you that if you don't win this lawsuit within a month...no...half a month, you will be dead."

Louis also blinked like Laika, "Literally dead."

Trevor's voice was almost roaring: "What on earth are you talking about...what on earth...is in the ancient tomb?"

The reason why he left without turning around was precisely because he wanted to know what was in the ancient tomb.

"Want to know? Just ask Norman."

Laika led Trevor into the trap step by step, "I'm just telling you, the answer will scare you to tears."

For a lawyer who thinks highly of himself, this sentence is enough.

After a moment of silence, Trevor snorted, turned around, and left the courtroom between the middle fingers of countless supporters of cultural relic protection.

"Oh, what an unexpected bonus." Laura smiled, "Will he take the bait?"

"Definitely!" Louis nodded solemnly, "This guy is also an arrogant guy. If he is provoked by us, he will definitely ask Norman to find out."

"Ha, if Norman didn't tell him, he would definitely resign in a fit of rage."

"It's also possible that Norman fired him directly."

"Or Norman will kill him."

"Huh?" X2

Laika saw Laura and Lewis looking at him and shrugged: "Why, don't tell me you haven't thought about this possibility."

That's right, that lunatic can post a reward for Laura, so naturally he won't take Trevor's life for granted.

In fact, Laika also thought of a possibility.

Norman will use certain means to blackmail Trevor and make him work until death.

Under the threat of death, Trevor may be more difficult to deal with.

But it’s all done and it feels good, so there’s no point worrying now.

As for Trevor’s life…

None of my business...

"Okay, never mind them, we can do whatever we have to do."

"You're right, Trevor is a bad guy, we don't need to worry about him." Louis then asked Laika, "How about your line?"

Laika is confident: "I have already established a connection with the witness. She will believe my sincerity after seeing my performance in court today."

"That's fine, but you must keep an eye on her and try to protect her safety while ensuring the safety of the witness."

"Don't worry about this."

Even if Laika didn't protect Gwen Stacy, her Spider-Man boyfriend would.

Peter Parker is a poor man. Although he cannot single-handedly bring down the Osborne Group, he can still protect his beloved little girlfriend.

"It's going well...should we celebrate?" Laura suggested.

Louis shook his head firmly: "I had a heart attack last year, and the doctor said I should try to drink less and be less excited."

"It's just a drink. A stage victory is also a victory. You must celebrate it."

"Celebration is necessary, but it must be done after this matter is over. I am superstitious and dare not celebrate in advance."

"Well... he is indeed the most rigorous Suits lawyer in New York."

"Of course!"

Louis proudly puffed out his chest and shook off the evidence that Laika had brought.

"As Laika's assistant lawyer, I still have to submit this new evidence to the judge, be scolded by the judge, and pay a fine."

Laika quickly shook off his hand: "Come on, boss, we are all our own people here, so stop joking."

"No, to be honest, for the time being, your performance is very good and you can serve as Laura's chief lawyer."

Louis said that and walked to the judge's office.

Laura looked at Laika: "What about you, are you also superstitious?"

"I don't care." Laika shrugged: "But... I just calculated... my witness should have an appointment tonight."
