Chapter 16 Arriving in New York

Under John's watchful eye, the two boarded the train.

In this era, the trains had not been upgraded and were not very fast. They had to take a train for nearly nine hours to reach New York and get off in Manhattan.

The two found their seats and sat down, and Carol began to chatter.

It was the first time that the siblings went out to play alone, and Carol seemed very active.

She kept talking along the way, sometimes talking about the scenery outside the window, and sometimes talking about the buildings outside the window. In fact, she had seen them all the time, but it was just her psychological reason.

When Joe was drowsy, the train arrived in Manhattan. After getting off the train, the two stood in the train station hall, staring at each other.

"Where now?" Carol asked.

"Well, let's find a place to live first." Qiao didn't know where to go, so it was right to find a place to stay first.

"After we find a place to stay, let's go out for a walk." Joe added.

The two started to take action. They didn't know where to look anyway, so they just found a direction to the west and started walking.

They decided to stop when they saw the hotel.

After walking for about an hour, the buildings along the street became shorter and shorter, and the environment became worse and worse.

"Did we go the wrong way?" Carol asked. "The environment here seems not to be good."

The two newbies set out without any plans. Now, they are both confused.

"Let's take another walk," said Qiao. "We've been walking for such a long time, and it's not cost-effective to go back."

I looked up at the sky and saw that it was getting late, almost five o'clock in the afternoon.

"Okay," Carol said.

Both of them are brave, and they are not afraid of tigers as newborn calves. They still don't know the darkness under the glamor of the big city of New York.

After walking for more than half an hour, they finally saw a hotel.

The hotel looks a bit old. The signboard says "Stone Family Hotel". It is a very ordinary family hotel. The owner's family lives downstairs and the spare rooms above are for guests.

They decided to go in and have a look, and if it was okay, they would live here.

Entering the hotel, there was no one at the front desk.

"Hello, is anyone there?" Carol asked.

"Coming." A girl's voice.

After a while, a girl with blond hair and blue eyes came out. "Do you want to stay here?" she asked.

"Can I see the house prices?" Carol asked.

The girl looked at the two siblings and stayed on Qiao for a while.

"Okay," she replied, not forgetting to look at Joe a few more times.

Well, here is another girl who is shocked by Qiao's appearance.

Qiao felt the eyes lingering on his body. He was used to it. It was uncomfortable to be in the spotlight.

"It would be great if I had Superman's glasses." Qiao once again thought of that person's glasses, which could weaken the halo on the body. It was really a must-have for traveling at home and robbing houses.

"My name is Carol, and this is my brother Joe," Carol introduced herself as she followed the girl upstairs.

"My name is Susan," the girl said. "You are not locals, right?"

"We just graduated from high school and came out to have fun." Carol replied with a smile.

"No wonder," said Susan.

"What's wrong?" Carol asked curiously. She thought Susan looked at them strangely.

"It's nothing, it's just that few outsiders come here." Susan said. Then she asked, "Do you know where this place is?"

"I don't know. Joe and I got off the train and walked west casually. After walking for more than an hour, we saw your hotel and came in," Carol said.

"Okay." Susan just wanted to cover her head. These two people

"You have no travel plans?" she asked again.

"Uh, no, we just came out without thinking too much." Carol said embarrassedly. She now felt that the two of them seemed a bit too hasty.

"Okay, I wish you a good holiday." Susan said.

The three of them went upstairs and looked at the room. Joe and Carol discussed it and thought it was pretty good and clean, so they decided to stay.

"How much will it cost to rent two rooms?" Carol asked.

"Ten dollars a room," Susan said.

"Here, $20." Carol handed the money to Susan.

The two entered the room, rested, and prepared to go out again.

After going downstairs, Susan was reading a book at the front desk.

Seeing the two people going downstairs, he asked, "Are you going out?"

"Go for a walk," Carol said with a smile.

After looking at the clothes on the two of them, "I suggest you change your clothes." Susan said, "Also, you must come back before dark."

"What's wrong?" Carol asked confused.

"The security here is not very good," Susan said. "When you go out like this, others will look like you."

Looking down at what she was wearing, Carol said, "It's nothing, just ordinary clothes."

"It's better to change it," Susan reminded.

"It shouldn't be any problem." Carol said, "We'll go out for a walk and come back."

"You must come back before dark." Susan emphasized again, "Security is really bad here at night."

"Okay, thank you for your advice." Carol thanked Susan.

Joe remained invisible the entire time and didn't say a word. Carol had said before coming that she was the sister and she would arrange everything, so Joe agreed without bothering.

Before going out, Joe smiled and said "Thank you" to Susan.

Susan's face almost turned red and she hurriedly lowered her head to read.

Few women are immune to Joe's smile, and so far Joe has only met two, Mary and Carol.

"This girl is not bad" he thought.

Seeing that Joe and Carol had already gone out, Susan let out a breath and called to the back room, "Johnny, come out."

"What's wrong, sister?" a boy inside replied.

After a while, Johnny came out, a teenager of fifteen or sixteen years old, about the same age as Joe.

"Two tourists just came to our place without knowing where this place is. Now that they are out, I'm afraid they are in danger. Please follow and look after them." Susan said, "If something goes wrong, you come forward to reconcile. one time."

"Sister, you are too involved." Johnny complained, "If something happens to them, what does it have to do with us? It's okay if something happens, the luggage is all ours."

Then he said, "You don't know what kind of place this is."

"Go, follow, and we'll be gone in a while." Susan said directly, ignoring Johnny's complaints.

"Can you not go?" Johnny thought it was troublesome.

Looking into Susan's blue eyes, Johnny was defeated, "Okay, okay, I'll go, I'll go."

"I'm really impressed by you." He said as he walked away.

"Hurry up, everyone is almost gone." Susan urged.

"I know, I know, it's so annoying. I'm watching a DVD. The latest Chinese Kung Fu movie. I borrowed it with great difficulty." Johnny was very unhappy.

Although he kept mumbling, his steps were not slow and he walked behind Qiao and the others.

Obviously, he was not as indifferent as he said.
