I Hate Systems
285 Stranded in the Middle of Nowhere
Roar!
After walking around for a while, the Haggon roared in anger before grunting in response when some sand wafted into its mouth.
'This is bad…' Compass Carburettor thought, failing to sense any living creature in his vicinity. He had planned to eat a couple of them and replenish his Darlac reserves first before flying out of this region.
After all, in his hurry before, he had pushed his Mecha to the limit, travelling for who knows how long. He had just blindly gone wherever he could go before gliding with his pair of wings.
Dragged on the sand with a rope was his human corpse, something he didn't wish to leave behind. If he came across some creature, he planned to feed this to them and see what would happen.
He dared not touch it either, fearing that the Elf had done something to it. So, he wrapped a bag around it before tying it to some ropes. There were enough items within the dimensional storage, food included. But, as he didn't know how deep into the desert he was, he dared not waste them.
After all, he had enough to cross the desert, but that was only if he went back in the direction that he flew from. He didn't want that, unwilling to move closer to that Elf.
He needed to find another way to leave the desert. And just at the thought of the Elf, he groaned, massaging his forehead, 'To think they would employ a System Slayer, a True System Slayer at Level 49 at that.'
If the Coincidental Luck System knew the truth about the System Slayers, then the same could also be said about its enemies. So, if it is someone employed by them, then it made sense that the Elf was at Level 49 and not a level lower or higher.
The moment it touched Level 50, a Grade 2 System would target it and destroy it. So, it limited itself. But, even at Level 49, it was a scary opponent, someone he didn't dare face.
Even for a Level 10 System like the Night Ranger System, he didn't have the guts to face it head-on and had only resorted to trickery to eventually deal with Shika.
When he didn't even have a guarantee of facing against Hatchling Systems, facing a True System Slayer at Level 49 was just suicide.
"Dita, are you alright?" He asked in worry, having not checked up on the cobra's condition yet.
"I'm severely injured, but I'm healing slowly, uncle." Dita replied, "That idiot goldfish is the same. But, without any Darlac, our recovery would take a long time."
"Are you able to jump into my second space? See if you can heal there faster." He asked.
"I'm able to, uncle. But I'm too injured to make a jump at present." Dita replied. Judging based on the lack of spirit in her voice, it seemed her injuries were pretty severe indeed.
'That trump card was indeed too strong. Moreover, I stole a lot from Shika. So, this level of injury is expected.' He sighed, replying to the cobra, "Continue to rest. I'll work out something here."
He continued to walk through the desert, feeling the desert's heat, watching his feet sink into the sand under the weight every time he took a step forward.
From time to time, he activated Directional Misalignment, failing to sense even one creature in the vicinity. And, at Level 10, its range was around 10 kilometres.
So, it was puzzling that there weren't any mutated beasts in such a wide radius. But left with no other choice, he could only continue to move.
Thankfully for the Haggon form, it didn't sweat under such temperature levels, allowing him to casually walk through the desert.
"Right, why didn't I think of that?" He slapped his forehead before taking out a lot of food from his dimensional storage, swallowing it immediately. He then continued to walk, noticing his Darlac getting replenished slowly.
Soon, once he had accumulated 100 Darlac, he expended it, taking on his Spirit—human—form. He then summoned the Vitality Bowl, planting it in the sand, watching its roots burrow into it, continuing to do so until they reached deep into the ground.
And, after a long time had passed, water began to slowly fill up within the bowl. But, its pace was really slow as Compass Carburettor erected a tent around it, taking out a cup from the dimensional storage that he used to scoop out the water and drink it, satiating his thirst.
With a thought, the Vitality Bowl began to produce a nutrient solution of the sort that he began to drink in small gulps.
As this was a power of his human form, he couldn't use it in his Haggon Form.
He first planned to replenish some Darlac in this manner, sighing as he continued to converse with Grisha.
"Where are you at present? How's the situation there?" He asked.
"Nothing amiss has happened," Grisha replied, "A couple of ants had seen Rhizen hunting a couple of mutated beasts near the fort alongside Chenger. I'm currently moving with the ant queen."
"Have you ever seen an Elf before in your previous loops?" He asked.
"No, I haven't seen such a creature." Grisha replied, "Was it the reason you had escaped just now?"
"Yes," Sighing, he told her what had transpired, "That Elf isn't an opponent I can handle."
"Then, destroying the other Systems is the only option." Grisha said, "That would make the Elf your only opponent. And, if what you said is the truth, then the Coincidental Luck System's luck would deal with it."
"Hopefully, that's the case." He sighed, "I'll have to think of a plan to avoid the Elf. I barely managed to escape the first time. But it'll be prepared against my methods from the next time onwards."
"Once I've thought of a plan, I'll inform you." He said after a moment of thought, "Remain closer to Rhizen for now. That's safer than heading somewhere else. If the Elf tries to attack you, just run towards Rhizen. Let him handle the rest."
Saying so, he disconnected the connection as Grisha frowned, muttering, "What happened to him? Is he afraid? No…"
"This seems to be something else."
