Harry Potter and the Legend of the Temple
Chapter 26 The Petrified Cat
"We need to get out of here."
Hermione felt that everything here was extremely weird, and she didn't want to stay here for even a second.
"Good idea Hermione. We can't be discovered here." Ron rarely agreed with Hermione's idea.
But everything was too late. When everyone was preparing to leave the scene of the incident, they happened to bump into a large group of students. They had just come out of the Halloween banquet. Some of them were full of food and drink, and looked calm. They also exchanged emotions with the surrounding students from time to time.
Students quickly emerged from all over the place, and when they saw this scene, they were stunned for a moment.
The six Harrys were surrounded in the middle, and all the footsteps and voices suddenly stopped. Everyone quietly observed the writing on the wall. Louis silently protected Astoria and Ginny behind him.
"Enemies of the Successor, beware, I'm talking about you, Mudblood!"
An unexpected voice came from the crowd. Without asking, Draco Malfoy emerged from the crowd. He looked at Louis and the others with a gloating expression on his face.
"What's going on? Give me a break. Why are you students here at night if you don't go back to your dormitory?"
Not far away, Filch was attracted by Malfoy's voice. He pushed his way through the crowd with his shoulder. Then, he saw Mrs. Norris and stepped back in fright, with a look of horror on his face.
"My cat! My cat! What are you doing, Mrs. Norris?"
He looked at the six of them with wide eyes, and then he locked his eyes on Louis.
"Is it you? You killed my cat." Filch was almost crazy. He tried to reach out to catch Louis, "Don't think I don't know what you and Granger are doing secretly at night. This must be revenge! Revenge! "
"I didn't!" Louis cleverly avoided Filch's attack, "It was already like this when we came here, and we didn't even touch a hair on that cat!"
"Lie!" Filch yelled, "You were afraid that others would discover your secret, so you started with my cat, ah! I'm going to kill you -"
"Argus!"
Just when the situation was about to get out of control, Albus Dumbledore appeared in front of everyone with all the teachers.
He took down Mrs. Norris who was tied to the pillar and hung upside down, and then pointed at Harry and the other six:
"Come with me, you guys. And" Dumbledore pushed up his glasses, "Filch, please come with me too."
"My office is upstairs, if you don't mind, Principal..."
Lockhart stepped forward, looking particularly enthusiastic.
"That's troublesome, Gilderoy." Dumbledore agreed.
The silent crowd soon separated a path for them to walk through. Gilderoy Lockhart followed Dumbledore self-righteously, and the other two teachers following him were McGonagall and Snape.
Lockhart's office seemed a little dark. To be honest, this was the first time Louis came to the teacher's office in Hogwarts.
He looked around and saw that Lockhart was simply a narcissist. The walls were covered with posters of himself, and even the tables were filled with photos of him and someone.
After Lockhart lit a candle, Dumbledore placed Mrs. Norris on the table and examined her carefully. His long, curved nose was only a foot away from Loris' hair. Professor McGonagall was bent over and squinting to observe carefully. Snape stood behind them with a very strange expression on his face. Lockhart, the parallel importer, was pretending to make suggestions.
"This should have been killed by an extremely advanced black magic, principal." He said while pacing, "I have seen this situation many times, but it is a pity that I was not there at the time, otherwise I would have prevented the tragedy from happening. ”
Lockhart's words aroused scorn in Louis's heart, but Filch believed his words deeply, and he suddenly began to sob. Mrs. Norris had a great influence on him, and it could be said that she was his spiritual sustenance.
Dumbledore was muttering something to himself. He tapped Mrs. Norris's body with his wand, but there was no movement.
"This cat is dead, Headmaster." Lockhart continued to express his remarks, "Maybe you should read my autobiography. There are certain protective measures there to ensure that this will never happen again in the future. Happened, let me clarify your thoughts."
"The cat is not dead, Argus, don't worry, it was just..."
"Petrified, professor." Louis couldn't help but interjected.
Dumbledore glanced at Louis in surprise, and then replied:
"Yes, it was just petrified, but this black magic is extremely advanced. I don't think this is something that a first-year student can do."
"He did it, he did it!" Filch grabbed Louis as if he had caught something, "And those words on the wall..."
"I told you that I have never touched Mrs. Norris." Louis looked a little irritated. "We used to follow the ghosts to celebrate the death anniversary, and we only saw this scene after the banquet!"
"You're talking nonsense." Filch roared, "You're just afraid that your private meeting with Miss Granger that night will be exposed!"
Filch used the word "private meeting" very cleverly, causing everyone present to focus on Louis and Hermione. Hermione's face turned red for a moment.
"Ahem, Headmaster, please allow me to say a few words." Snape stood up from behind.
"Wiggins, you and Miss Granger's personal affairs are not of interest to us, just today's matter, I think. Potter and their companions just appeared in the wrong place at the wrong time." He said with a smile. His tone was contemptuous, as if he didn't even believe it.
"But a few questions, why are you there, I guess this road is not the only way to the Gryffindor common room. Why don't you show up at the Halloween party, don't use it as a ghost anniversary. Fool me, I won’t listen.”
"But we really went to Nick's death anniversary party." Harry defended, "If you don't believe it, we have hundreds of brats to testify."
"Ha," Snape sneered, "Really, but why didn't you come back later? And why did you appear in that place."
"Because - because -" Harry, Ron, and Louis looked at each other. It was impossible for him to say that he was led there by a voice.
"Because it's my fault, Professor." Astoria timidly replied from the side. "I was afraid that Louis and the others would be hungry because they didn't have a meal at the death anniversary banquet, so I waited there for them and brought them food." In front of the professor, Astoria, who was only eleven years old, no longer looked like a eldest lady.
Louis looked at Astoria in surprise, not expecting that this Slytherin girl would speak for them at this time.
"Oh? That's really touching." Snape snorted coldly. He obviously didn't completely believe it, because Harry Potter was here, and even if the students of his own college spoke, he couldn't tolerate it.
"Headmaster, I don't think they have been completely honest." Snape turned to Dumbledore and said, "I think it might be a good idea to take away some of their privileges."
"That's enough, Severus." Professor McGonagall couldn't stand it anymore. "You have no right to interfere with the affairs of our college students. Besides, I don't think there is any evidence to show that Mr. Potter and the others have done anything wrong."
Dumbledore looked at the six of them, as if examining their personalities with clairvoyance.
"Minerva is right, no evidence means innocence." He finally announced with determination, and Louis and others couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"But Principal, my cat! My cat is petrified!" Filch was still chasing after him.
"Professor Sparrowney has been cultivating mandrakes recently. I think when they mature, they can cure petrification." Dumbledore said.
"Leave this preparation to me." Lockhart volunteered, but was severely suppressed by Snape.
"I'm the expert in potions, Lockhart."
"However, there is more than one potion-making expert here." Dumbledore glanced at Louis vaguely, and he felt a little scared.
Does this old man know everything?
"Okay, I think you can go." Dumbledore kindly sent the six Louises out of the room.
After parting ways with Astoria in the castle, Louis looked at his hands. The impact on his senses these past few days since entering school was really great, especially the Snake accent and the secret room that was accidentally opened.
Everyone was silent all the way as they trotted back to the Gryffindor common room. After everyone said good night, Ron suddenly rushed forward and stopped in front of Louis.
"Louis, tell me, what did you and Hermione do at night?"
