Harry Potter and the Legend of the Temple

Chapter 214: Flight on a Thestral

As soon as Hagrid finished speaking, several students looked at each other and took a step back consciously.

No one dares to joke with their own lives. Thestrals are considered dangerous magical creatures by the Ministry of Magic. Moreover, Hagrid's lessons learned last year are vivid.

The Hippogriff is scary enough, but now comes a Thestral that is more "dangerous" than it. Invisible creatures are often even more frightening.

"Professor Hagrid, let me do it." Louis volunteered. He couldn't see Hagrid embarrassed, and besides, he was also somewhat interested in Thestrals.

"And I."

As soon as Louis finished speaking, Luna from the Ravenclaw side also stood up, her eyes flashing with excitement.

"Ah, very good, good job, you two." Hagrid said loudly, "Come here and let me see your level."

He used his meat to lure the Thestral closer to Louis and Luna. Only then did Louis observe the black Pegasus at close range. It was covered in black from top to bottom, with no flesh on its body, and its fur was tightly attached to the body. On the skeleton, every bone is clearly visible. Large, black leathery wings sprouted from the ridge between the shoulder bones, like a horse from hell.

"I think you can all see the Thestral, right?" Hagrid asked Louis and Luna. After receiving affirmative answers from them, he clapped his hands.

"Great, then what you have to do next is to gain its trust."

"Follow my instructions, reach out your hand and let it feel your breath."

Louis slowly stretched his hand forward with some uncertainty. The Thestral looked at him, slowly moved its head towards him, and kept testing Lewis with its nose. He could feel the puffs of breath coming from its nostrils.

"Pay attention, if it doesn't like you, you have to stay away slowly." Hagrid reminded while paying attention to Louis' safety, "Of course, if it is willing to let you touch it, it will touch you with its head. Hand, you can touch it now.”

Lewis held his breath. He felt the temptation from the Thestral little by little. However, after nearly five minutes, the Thestral still did not lower its head.

"Back off slowly, Louis." Hagrid advised, he was worried that the Thestral would attack at any time.

But Louis didn't move, and finally Yeqi touched the top of his head into his palm, like a well-behaved horse, constantly rubbing against his palm.

"Well done." Hagrid breathed a sigh of relief. "It likes you very much. Okay, I think you can ride it now."

"Oh, and you, girl?" Hagrid didn't know Luna's name, so he looked at Luna aside with confusion.

"Lovegood, Luna Lovegood." Luna bowed to Hagrid.

"Ah, okay, Miss Lovegood, you will sit behind Louis later. That's right, the Thestral can carry two people."

Louis didn't expect that this Care of Magical Creatures class would allow him to experience the Thestrals. He thought it was just a boring thing like the Billywig Bug, but in fact the reality was more interesting than he thought.

"Pay attention to its skin, Louis. Although it has no hair on its body, don't use any force." Hagrid reminded, he picked up Louis high and placed him on top of the Thestral.

"Put your hands on your neck and hold it."

Hagrid was guiding from the side, and Louis discovered that the Thestral was different from ordinary horses in that it did not require a saddle at all and still felt comfortable.

Luna then sat behind Lewis, holding Louis' waist tightly with both hands, for fear of falling.

"Okay, let's go, remember to circle Hogwarts and come back."

(Louis was not sure whether the latter part of Hagrid's words was meant for Thestrals.)

Hagrid whistled, and Thestral kicked his legs as hard as he could and flapped his wings. Its speed of improvement was even more exaggerated than Louis imagined, and it reached high altitude in a short while.

The strong wind blew against Louis' cheek, and he could barely open his eyes. The main body of Hogwarts Castle appeared in front of him, then bypassed the Gryffindor Tower and passed quickly under the suspended stone bridge. The fall caused Luna behind Louis to scream in surprise again and again, her whole body pressed against Louis.

Before Louis could even admire the girl's figure in his mind, the Thestral was quickly lapping the water, crossing the lake, going straight up the rocks, and overlooking the Quidditch field from a high altitude.

"This is definitely the most magnificent Hogwarts I've ever seen!" Luna said happily, her neat white hair already messy in the strong wind, "But it's so fast, it's comparable to a Bent-Horned Snorlax, oh !”

It circled Hogwarts, went down from the Astronomy Tower, and returned to the grounds on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

There was no strong bump when the Thestral landed, but it seemed extremely smooth. The behavior of Louis and Luna greatly encouraged the group of students, although from their perspective, the invisible horse looked a bit strange under Louis' crotch.

"Very good, very good. Five points each for Gryffindor and Ravenclaw." Hagrid patted the black horse, and they both slid off the horse. Louis also dismounted in a gentlemanly manner. Luna offered a hand.

In the following time, several people were divided into groups of four and fed the Thestrals with the raw meat given by Hagrid.

"It's really magical, it's like these things disappear out of thin air." Ginny sighed at the side. The guy was never stingy when it came to eating meat, almost one bite at a time.

"I wish I could meet these guys," Colin said, as if he was touching something with one hand.

"Oh, I suggest you never see it." Luna had recovered her ethereal voice, "Because you know, only those who have seen death can see it."

The atmosphere was a little awkward. Colin suddenly felt that these creatures were no longer so interesting. Ginny changed the subject and stopped dwelling on the Thestrals.

There is always such an unknown sad thing behind the little angel's optimism and cheerfulness, but in fact Luna will not feel sad about that thing. She believes that sooner or later, she will see the mother who lost her life due to the experiment again.

"How about you guys? It's okay for you guys to get along with Wuwu." Hagrid appeared beside them at some point.

Wuwu, the Thestral, should be the first native born and raised in Hogwarts, and is also Hagrid's personal favorite dark horse.

"That's great, Hagrid." Louis praised sincerely, giving them Thestrals as soon as they got there, which no one expected.

"After all, the first class has to leave an impression." Hagrid scratched his head, "The Thestral is much safer than Buckbeak."

"Malfoy was too stupid last year." Ginny got angry when she mentioned this. "It's not your fault, Hagrid. Don't worry, nothing will happen again this year."

However, as soon as she finished speaking, a bolt of lightning suddenly flashed in the forbidden forest not far away, falling from the sky toward the sky.

The huge noise alarmed the Yeqi, and those guys began to panic and flee. The students gathered around were knocked down by the fierce wind. Some students were almost kicked by the Yeqi, and they fled in all directions.

Thunder roared and exploded throughout Hogwarts.
