The extraction method of natural gas is very similar to that of crude oil, but also has its special features.

Due to the low density of natural gas, which is 0.75-0.8 kg/m3, the pressure of the wellbore gas column on the bottom of the well is small; the viscosity of natural gas is small, and the flow resistance in the formation and pipeline is also small; and because of the large expansion coefficient, its elastic energy is also large . Therefore, self-injection is generally used in natural gas extraction.

This is basically the same as the self-spraying oil recovery method. However, because gas well pressure is generally high and natural gas is a flammable and explosive gas, the pressure bearing capacity and sealing performance of gas production wellhead devices are much higher than those of oil production wellhead devices.

Natural gas extraction also has its own characteristics. First of all, natural gas, like crude oil, is often a storage system with bottom water or edge water. With the development of natural gas, the elastic energy of the water body will drive the water into the gas reservoir along the high permeability zone.

In this case, due to the hydrophilicity of the rock itself and the effect of capillary pressure, the intrusion of water does not effectively displace the gas, but seals the undischarged gas in the cracks, holes or gaps, forming a dead gas zone.

This part of the high-pressure gas trapped in the water invasion zone can be as high as 30% to 50% of the rock pore volume, thus greatly reducing the ultimate recovery of the gas reservoir.

Secondly, after the gas well produces water, the seepage resistance of the gas flowing into the bottom of the well will increase, and the total energy consumption of the gas-liquid two-phase pipe flow upward along the oil well will increase significantly. With the increasing impact of water invasion, the gas production rate of gas reservoirs decreases, the self-spraying ability of gas wells weakens, and the production of a single well decreases rapidly until the bottom of the well is seriously waterlogged and production is shut down.

At present, there are two main ways to control the flooding of gas reservoirs, one is drainage and the other is water blocking. Water plugging is the use of mechanical plugging, chemical plugging and other methods to separate the gas-producing layer from the water-producing layer or to build a water-blocking barrier in the reservoir. At present, there are many drainage methods, and the main principle is to remove the accumulated water in the wellbore. The technical term is called drainage and gas recovery method.

It wouldn’t be so troublesome here. If it weren’t for the real exploration data in front of them, the experts conducting exploration here would not be able to believe that there is no water in the natural gas reservoirs here, there is no water at all, and there is only clean water deep in the ground. natural gas.
