Game of Thrones: The Red Dragon Lord

Chapter 153 Action Begins

After Gavin left the courtyard, Margaery, who had been waiting here for a long time, immediately stepped forward with a smile and took his arm, saying in a tender voice: "Gavin, how was the conversation with my grandmother?"

Gavin smiled and responded: "Your grandmother suggested that I stay in Highgarden for a while and wait for news from the Iron Islands. I agreed. I will trouble you to ask the maester to help me send a raven to the Stepstones and tell Daenerys that I will stay in Highgarden for a while."

"Okay, I will arrange a guest room for you first, and then go to the maester." Margaery led Gavin into the castle.

At night, Highgarden Castle was quiet and silent. Gavin lay on the bed in the room, his thoughts flying, recalling the conversation with Olenna today and the intelligence he had obtained.

The war between the Iron Throne and the Stepstones is imminent. Gavin is confident that he can easily win any of the fleets in Westeros. However, if Robert can really gather all his strength, I am afraid he can only choose to retreat to Dragonfire Bay and be trapped in danger.

After thinking for a while, Gavin gradually came up with several countermeasures.

First, stop the Iron Throne's actions. As long as the Iron Throne's finances are not relieved, I am afraid that Robert will not be able to raise enough military funds until his death. During this period, Gavin will speed up his meeting with the wild boar.

Second, strike first and completely destroy the royal fleet before it leaves the port. After losing the royal fleet, Gavin did not believe that Robert would dare to return Greyjoy. Even if he was sick, he could not command the Iron Islands. The ambition of King Balon was no less than Gavin's.

Just as Gavin was hesitating about how to make a decision, the door was gently pushed open, and Margaery, wearing a thin pajamas, quietly walked into the room. Her footsteps were as light as a cat, and she made almost no sound.

Margaery walked to the bed and whispered, "Gavin, are you still awake?"

Gavin raised his head and saw Margaery's dress, and his heart was slightly moved. He said calmly, "Margaery, it's so late, what can you do?"

Margaery leaned over slightly and approached Gavin. Her hair brushed Gavin's face like silk, bringing a breath of intoxicating fragrance. She said in a tender voice, "Gavin, I can't sleep, I want to chat with you."

Gavin smiled and said, "Okay, tell me what makes it so hard for you to fall asleep. Could it be that Lady Olenna asked you to come?"

Margaery sat by the bed, gently held Gavin's hand, and said, "Even if my grandmother didn't tell me, I would have come. I know you plan to marry me after you seize the Iron Throne, but I can't wait."

Gavin looked at Margaery and couldn't help but waver in his heart. Seeing this, Margaery continued, "Gavin, I am willing to give you everything I have and become your woman."

Gavin was silent for a moment, but he finally couldn't resist Margaery's temptation. He reached out and hugged Margaery into his arms, saying, "Margaery, you are so beautiful."

Margaery smiled with joy, and she hugged Gavin tightly and said, "Gavin, I will always be with you."

Then, the two fell asleep in each other's arms and spent an unforgettable night.

The next morning, when Gavin woke up, Margaery had left the room. He got up and washed up, then sat at the desk and wrote a letter. He wanted to tell Daenerys and the others about the information he learned in High Court and the subsequent arrangements.

At this time, Margaery walked in lightly with breakfast, her face was filled with a happy smile, as warm as the spring sunshine, and said, "Gavin, come and eat something."

Gavin nodded, took the breakfast, and began to enjoy it.

"Gavin, what are your plans next?" Margaery asked with concern, her eyes full of concern for him.

Gavin handed the letter to Margaery and said, "Please send the letter for me with a raven first."

Margaery took the letter curiously and said, "Didn't I send a raven to Daenerys yesterday?"

Gavin explained, "This is for Hassan and the others. I have made some arrangements." After thinking for a moment, he continued, "I plan to stay in Highgarden for a while to accompany you, and then go to Braavos."

Margaery said worriedly, "Will that be dangerous? Did you have a bad time with the Sea King last time?" Her brows were slightly frowned, and she looked very worried.

Gavin smiled and comforted her, "Don't worry, Margaery, I will be careful. I don't plan to go into the city, nor do I plan to meet the Sea King. If I'm lucky, I won't have to run so far."

After hearing this, Margaery looked at Gavin with wide eyes and said, "Are you going to intercept the Minister of Finance Petyr halfway? Even if he loses the loan from the Iron Bank, Robert still has the support of the West."

Gavin nodded slightly and said calmly, "My goal is not the loan from the Iron Bank, but Littlefinger."

Looking at Margaery's puzzled expression, Gavin smiled and said, "Don't worry, you will know when the time comes. Once I catch him, those problems will be simple."

In the next few days, Gavin waited for news while enjoying the rare quiet time with Margaery. They strolled in the garden of High Court together, admiring the beautiful scenery and talking about future plans.

However, the peaceful days did not last long, and Gavin received an invitation from Lady Olenna again.

Still in the same courtyard, Lady Olenna sipped her tea while saying, "The Council of Kings finally decided to send Ned's adopted son Theon back to the Iron Islands. Even if Stannis strongly opposed it, it would be useless. The raven that sent the letter to the North should have arrived now."

Gavin nodded slightly and asked, "Is there any other news from King's Landing? Has Ned Stark's wife Catelyn come to King's Landing?"

Olenna said with a hint of sarcasm after hearing this: "Your Majesty is really careless. Shouldn't your attention be on the Iron Islands now? What does Ned's wife have to do with our affairs?"

Gavin said calmly: "I have my own ideas, madam. If you know, please tell me."

Olenna thought for a moment and said, "There is news that she has arrived in King's Landing and found Ned Stark. As for why she went south, I don't know."

After hearing this answer, Gavin couldn't help but secretly complain in his heart: It seems that it is the chain reaction caused by my existence that prevented the wolf and the lion from clashing. Littlefinger was sent to the Iron Bank by Robert, and the loss of Littlefinger instigated trouble in the middle. The wolf and the lion are still very restrained now. It seems that I have to send this guy back to King's Landing quickly.

Thinking of this, Gavin stood up and said with a smile: "Thank you for your hospitality during this period. I will set off to return to the Stone Steps Islands later."

Lady Olenna nodded slightly after hearing this, looked at Gavin with deep eyes, and said: "It seems that Your Majesty has a plan in mind, so I wish you a smooth trip."

Gavin smiled after hearing this, and then turned and left.
