Chapter 20 The Sonic Taser
Chapter 20 The Sonic Taser
Lord is holding a press conference and he said an F-22 fighter jet crashed yesterday during an exercise.
"Urgently interrupted a local report. A mechanical monster suddenly appeared in Lower Manhattan equipped with a large number of weapons. It is very dangerous to kill anyone on sight. Please evacuate the people nearby as soon as possible!"
"This shit?" John sat up straight suddenly, watching the guy on the screen who looked like a humanoid machine rushing left and right amidst the roar of the army's gunfire, looking crazy.
Most of the cold mechanical body exposed the transmission equipment inside.
"Cyber mental illness?" John couldn't help admiring a certain general from the bottom of his heart. It's only been a few days since he got the cyber prosthetic body.Is this the whole cyber psychosis?
Fortunately, there was no sign of Umbrella on the psychopath in the scene.
Otherwise, this shit pot will be buckled to death on Umbrella's head.
It is obviously a semi-finished product, most of the body has no shell, and the metal structure is directly exposed, which also gave a certain general a chance to subdue him.
Seeing the cyberpsychosis being carried away by the hoist in the live broadcast.
John looked confused, don't you all avoid people?Bah, disgusting!
Natasha came over with coffee, "Your coffee."
"Thank you."
John continued to watch the news. After the scene was dealt with, General Ross casually characterized the time as a mistake made by high-tech criminals who robbed Umbrella's prosthetic body technology.
With General Ross' timely response, there were no civilian casualties and no financial loss other than the destruction of a few military Humvees.
The reporters present also began to smooth things over, thanking General Ross for his timely action...
The scene turned out to be harmonious.
"It's shameless! Secretly researching these utterly unconscionable things. How the hell have I only sold them to him for a few days? Have I forgotten the rules I gave and went to arrest the country?"
John said indignantly.
"Do you think I haven't thought about the weaponization of cyber prosthetics? Excessive electrical signal simulation feedback of prosthetics will directly cause irreversible damage to the brain, and will directly become a lunatic!"
Natasha looked at John, who was filled with righteous indignation, and smiled awkwardly. This guy just signed the supply project of General Ross's second batch of prosthetic bodies.
It is impossible to have money without making money.
Not only to earn but also to earn money standing up.
Pepper sat on a small sofa in the living room, resting her head on her hands.
She hadn't heard anything about Tony for almost a whole day.
A few hours ago, she had decided to wait for him to return; but now, exhausted from worrying about Tony's whereabouts, she dozed off on the couch.
When she woke up, she heard a familiar voice on the TV: Rhodes was holding a press conference, and he said that an F-22 fighter jet crashed in an exercise yesterday.
At this time, a sudden noise woke her up.The whole house was shaking, as if something heavy had fallen in the laboratory downstairs.
She hurried downstairs to look, but she heard Tony's voice before going down the stairs.
"Hey!" he said, "according to my design, this armor can be taken off, so..."
He saw Pepper enter the lab. "Hey," he said, trying to look nonchalant.
He was wearing red and gold armor, though, and Jarvis manipulated a set of robotic arms to remove the armor piece by piece from him.
"Please don't move, sir," said Jarvis.
"What's going on here?" Pepper asked. She'd seen Tony design a lot of crazy stuff, but nothing like this.
This fully armed look made Tony look aggressive.
"Admit it," he said, "this is definitely not the worst you've ever seen me."
But Pepper wasn't in the mood for a joke. "Are these... bullet holes?" she asked.
Tony rummaged to find the best way to tell her the truth.
A line of black SUVs snaked across the desert toward Raza's hideout. The car stopped by the warlord's tent, and his personal bodyguards stepped out to form a defensive formation beside the convoy.
Obadiah Stane stepped out of his SUV.At the same time, Raza also lifted the curtain of the tent.
"Welcome," Raza said.Seeing Stanis eyes rest on his scarred face, he added, "This is a gift from Tony Stark."
"If you had killed him as planned," Stanislav said, "your face wouldn't be what it is now."
The smile on Raza's face turned into a savage grin. "You give us this little money and expect us to kill a prince."
"This is an insult to me and to the lord who passed the ring to me," said the warlord. He held up his hand and showed Stanislav the symbol of the Ten Rings - ten rings connected to each other.
"I think we'd better not get your master involved in this matter," Stanislav said. "I've come a long way just to get a glimpse of this weapon. Show me it."
Raza nodded and said, "Come in, but your bodyguards will stay outside."
Stane stepped into the tent, his eyes fixed on the weapon.
The weapon was gray, about the size of a man, and hung by wires from the back of the yurt.
It resembles high-tech armor from the Middle Ages, scarred and pitted. It can be seen that the armor was almost scrapped before the pieces were put together.
"Stark's escape brought this windfall," Raza said.
Stanley nodded slowly. "So that's what he did."
"It's his first attempt, so it's kind of rough," Raza said. "Based on those of us who have fought him recently, I believe Stark has perfected his design."
He handed Stanis a set of blurry surveillance photos of a man in red and gold armor taking revenge in Comilla.
Two of Raza's men brought a battered laptop and a pile of yellowed paper, full of design sketches and circuit diagrams.
"What's this?" Stanley asked.
"The stuff in Tony Stark's head," Raza said.He fiddled with the files for a while until they fit together like a giant jigsaw puzzle. This jigsaw puzzle shows the exact shape of Iron Man.
"This contains all the information you need to make this weapon." Stanislav studied the manuscripts, while Raza said aside, "Stark has created a masterpiece of extreme lethality."
"Twelve pieces of this armor would be enough for a man to rule from the Pacific to the Ukraine."
"Mr. Stanley, you dream of sitting on Stark's throne. It seems that we have a common enemy."
Stanley's fingers ran across the armor, and he put his hand in the round hole in the breastplate.
"If we continue to work together," Raza said, "I will gift you these blueprints. In return, I want you to gift me these Iron Soldiers."
Stanley smiled and put his hand on Raza's shoulder.
"Think of this gift as an advance," Stanis said.
Raza heard a sudden sharp sound in the back of his head.
For a moment, he looked confused, then collapsed to the ground. It turned out to be the sonic taser weapon Stani had hidden.
Stane removed the earplugs that protected him from the weapon from his ears.
"It's technology. It's always your Achilles' heel in this area," Stanis said.
He showed Raza the tiny taser, about the size of a USB stick.
"Don't worry, its power will only last for 15 minutes, and it won't have any effect on you."
Glancing at the ring on Raza's finger, he said, "It might be a struggle to explain that to your master, though."
Stanislav turned away from the tent. His men had already easily surrounded Raza's army.
Raza's men knelt beside the convoy of SUVs, tightly bound and gagged.
"Crate the armor," Stane said to the lead bodyguard. "Okay, let's get this mess out of here."
He walked to the lead SUV.At the same time, gunshots rang out.
Stanis, who was sitting in the car, dialed out the phone, "Get the 16th area under the Ark's reaction area ready. I need to mask these data. Get our best engineers, and I will build a prototype immediately."
Tony was putting the final touches on his armor when Pepper came in. "Hey," he said, "are you busy now? Do you mind running errands for me? I need you to stop by my office."
He picked up a finger-sized USB drive from the workbench and handed it to Pepper.
"I want you to hack into the Stark Industries mainframe and retrieve recent shipment manifests. These manifests are likely placed in the 'executive files' directory. If not, then they may have put this information on the ghost server. In that case, you'd look for the file with the lowest number in the filename."
"What are you going to do after I get this information for you?" Pepper asked.
"It's still the same," Tony said. "They've been secretly dealing in weapons, and I want to stop them. I'm going to find out where the weapons are and destroy them all."
"Tony, you know I'd do anything for you," Pepper said, "but if you want to mess around again, I can't help you."
"That's the last thing I'll ask you to do," Tony said. "No artistic opening, no revenue, no business decisions, that's the last thing I'll do. And then I quit."
"Is that true?" Pepper said. She paused, then put the U disk on the table, and said, "I choose to quit."
Tony raised one eyebrow at her and said, "Are you really going to do this? In the past, when I was profiting from weapons of mass destruction, you were always by my side. Now, when I try When you go to protect those who have been hurt because of me, you are going to walk away?"
"Tony, you're going to kill yourself doing this," she said. "I don't want to get involved."
"Pepper, I'm not crazy," Tony said.He can't lose her.She had no idea how much Tony depended on her. "I just finally knew what I was going to do...and I knew in my heart that I was doing the right thing."
Pepper stared at Tony for a long time. Then, as if she had read the thoughts in his head, she said to Tony: "You know, you are my everything."
Pepper hurried through the dark corridors of Stark Industries.
She knew the corridors like the back of her hand, but sneaking through them for Tony's sake was obviously on her nerves.
Fortunately, she didn't bump into anyone on the way to Tony's office. She turned on Tony's computer and plugged in the device he had given her.
That gadget immediately hacked every computer on the network. It took a moment to locate the ghost server, and a window full of folders appeared in front of Pepper. She opened these folders one by one, and her surprise and resentment gradually increased.
Orders and bills of delivery for the Jericho missiles, as well as construction drawings and production plans for the missiles, kept appearing on the screen.
"Obadiah, what the hell are you doing?" she asked softly.
At this time, an icon of a video file appears on the screen. She clicked on the icon, and the still image moved.
She saw Tony being beaten up and strapped to a chair in the cave, surrounded by menacing guards. One of the guards spoke.
"You didn't say you paid us to kill the great Tony Stark," said the savage fellow, "Obadiah Stane, as you can see, deceit and lies will cost you A high price. The price of killing Tony Stark has just gone up."
Pepper couldn't close his mouth in surprise.Just then, the door of the office opened and Stanislav walked in.
"So, what do we do now?" he asked, walking to the other side of the table where Tony had placed a bottle of good whiskey. He poured himself a glass of wine and continued, "Tony always takes the good stuff, doesn't he?"
Pepper tried to shift her gaze to Stenny, but she was also watching the progress of the USB drive downloading the file.
These documents are all related to Stanislav, even the kidnapping video is no exception. She reluctantly nodded to Stanislav and forced a smile.
"I was so happy when he came home," Stanislav said. "It was like we brought him back from death. But now I realize that ... Tony didn't really come back, did he?" Stanislav said. Taking a sip of whiskey, he continued, "This really breaks my heart."
"Well, he's a complicated guy," Pepper said.Stanley was going to come around the table to greet her.
Just then, the download is complete. Before Stanislav could get a good view of what she was doing, Pepper returned the computer screen to the main interface and covered the USB drive with a piece of newspaper.
"He's been through a lot," she continued. "I think he'll be fine."
"You're a special woman," Stanislav said. "Tony really doesn't know how lucky he is."
"Thank you," Pepper said quietly. She picked up the newspaper and pulled out the USB drive. "I have to go back."
Stanislav walked to the office door to see her off.Just as Pepper was about to walk out of the office, he asked, "Is this today's newspaper?"
Pepper paused, intimidated by his question, afraid of what he might do to her. "That's right," she said. Now, the only thing she can do is keep calm.
Stanley came up to her, held out a hand, and said, "Would you mind showing me?"
"Of course I don't mind." She said, handing him the newspaper.
He laughed and said, "I like doing crosswords."
"Who doesn't like it," she said.
"Take care," Obadiah said.
Pepper felt a pair of eyes staring at her from behind as she walked down the corridor.
In the elevator, she waited for the siren to go off...but she eventually made it through the lobby without incident, where she saw S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Coulson waiting at the security desk.
"Miss Potts," Coulson said, "did you forget we had an appointment?"
"No," Pepper replied, grabbing his arm. "Of course not. Right now. Come with me." She tugged at his arm, walking faster.
"Now?"
"Yes, come with me," she said. "I want to have a good talk with you. You will never forget this conversation in your life. Go to your office first."
It wasn't until they were out of the building that she finally felt she could breathe again, at least for now.
In the basement of Stark Industries, Obadiah Stane was talking to the company's elite engineers.
Iron Man's old gray suit of armor was disassembled and placed in front of them.
As the engineers set about duplicating the various parts of the armor, Stane walked among them, supervising their work.
Standing beside him, the chief engineer said, "Mr. Stanley, we've worked on these things as you've asked, but we seem to have run into a little trouble. Actually, uh..."
"Little trouble?"
The engineer nodded and said, "That's right, the problem lies in the power part of the armor...Sir, that kind of technology doesn't exist, so..."
"Wait, you said 'that technology'?" Stanislav repeated the engineer's words.
Pointing to the Ark reactor towering in front of them, he said, "William, William...isn't that the kind of technology! I just want you to simply shrink it down!"
"Yes, sir." The engineer nodded, "that's what we're trying to do, but...honestly, it's impossible to scale it down..."
Stane glared at him angrily and said, "Tony Stark could have made this thing in a cave, out of scrap metal!
"But the thing is," said the engineer, "I'm not Tony Stark."
Tony repaired the armor and headed upstairs, planning to shower and eat before moving on to the next thing on his schedule.
At this moment, his phone rang, and he noticed that it was Pepper's number. He picked up the phone and was about to greet her when a feeling of being paralyzed immediately spread throughout his body.
Tony collapsed on the sofa.He saw Obadiah Stane come in and show him a gadget.Tony recognized it as a sonic taser.
He heard Pepper's voice on the phone: "Tony? Tony, are you there?"
"Breathe," Stanis said, with a treacherous smile. He hung up on Pepper and removed the earplugs that blocked the signal from the Taser.
"Relax, take it easy. You remember this thing, don't you? It's a pity the government didn't give us permission to make it, but we have something that can cause temporary paralysis."
He puts a briefcase on the sofa and opens it, takes a pocket knife from it, and cuts a slit in Tony's shirt, exposing the mini-Ark reactor on his chest.
"When I ordered them to attack you," said Stanislav, in a friendly, easy-going tone, "I was afraid I'd killed a goose that laid golden eggs. But you see, you were destined to survive."
Tony tried to move his body, but all he could do was follow Stane's figure with his eyes.
He could hear voices and see things, but he couldn't move his arms and legs at all.Stane used a knife to loosen the Ark reactor from its socket.
"Do you really think that as long as you have an idea, it's all yours? Look at your father, he helped us build the atomic bomb. If he was as selfish as you, what would the world be like? "
Stanley unscrewed the Ark reactor. With a snap, he yanked the device out of Tony's chest.
Suddenly Tony felt his heartbeat slow down and start to stop gradually.
"Oh, it's beautiful," said Steiner. "Tony, this is your Ninth Symphony, and this is your legacy. A new generation of weapons will carry it and use it as a The core. These weapons will put the power to balance the world in the right hands of us."
He stood up, put the Ark Reactor in the briefcase, and snapped the clasp shut.
He looked at Tony, who was lying on the sofa, struggling to breathe, and said, "I wish you could see the prototype I made. It's not... not as conservative as yours. Oh, it's a pity you still put Pepper It's too bad to be involved. I wanted to save her life."
Stanley turned and left Tony's place without a word. When leaving, he turned off the light in the room.
